N00b Training Map

I had this idea of making what is basically a showcase, having all the NS buildings and lifeforms/etc in booths. A player can walk around in this map and hit buttons next to the booths to hear what the item in the booth is.
Although since I have no good microphone, it would be nice if someone could help me by recording some descriptions of the stuff, like, "This is a command chair. Marines can hop in one if there is no commander by pressing the use key on one of these." or "This, is an onos. Seeing one as a marine usually means death and destruction is coming to get you. Unless you have heavy weapons, or you are in a large group, shooting at it is not going to do much." followed by more detail.

incidently - i thought you couldn't have pre-placed buildings on maps (apart from CC/Hive/Res) ... hence one of the biggest factors preventing this sort of thing happening..

You can with the 3.0 FGD, however I heard some of them are buggy.
HOWEVER, if you use a cycler, and use the item_jetpack model, the jetpack will be there, except you can't pick it up, doensn't have any special properties or anything... It's just a regular model.
(Lighting in shot is way down because my lights.rad was incorrect, easy to fix)
Id do the voice overs if you like, someones already offered but there you go ^_^
Ill put together some kinda test thing, with a couple of sentaces in it, any kinda file format you want?

im not a mapper, so i dont know what FF it uses.
Also stuff like when you're explaining the armory, you mention that full ammo isn't needed since you're likely to die before you use it all. That kind of stuff.
How are you gonna trigger the audio for each "window"? A button to push or can you have like an invisible trigger tha does when you step into an area?

But a thought just occurred to me, when and if this map get's played on a server somewhere and like 10 people are on it at the same time, how can you prevent all the audio playing at the same time?
I'm thinking like in co_daimos where Missy is speaking, everybody hears it over a big part of the readyroom and when you have windows tha close, wouldn't the different wav's overlap each other? Or can you make audio more focused in Hammer? How about making a small room for each item you are presenting instead of those side-by-side windows?
Just a thought, and since i'm not an experienced mapper, i don't know what excactly can be done to prevent what i'm describing.
The sound "radius" is adjustable when mapping, and so is the volume. Also, there are now invisible walls between each pair of booths, so you can't really skip them. These walls are destroyed 2 seconds(adjustable) after you have pushed both buttons.
Too bad, I was hoping some responsible soul would take the offer. Oh well. See first post.
Whoever is doing it will have to post here and say so, so there aren't like 5 people working on it at the same time. I will be out of contact.
I'm am thinking if it is all right with Align i will put this in the "wana be" ns single player mod thing were trying to make(its not much too look at right now.)

I like your idea very much because I am a n00b in making NS maps. I did a lot CS maps and now I want to make a co_map. So can anyone make a co_n00b map please?? Only a rdy room and 2 rooms where the 2 team start with their hive and their cc and which are connected so I can open it ingame and with the editor to see how it works and which entities I need.
Please help me with that, it would be very very nice!!!
As for help, there are many tutorials floating around the boards and mapping websites that can get you started. You might also check out the Help subforum here for some of those.
