More maps, more weapons, more vehicles, I'd say it's better. Oh and Mouse and Keyboard control, but it seems as though nothing runs Halo PC with a good FPS. My comp didn't, but you probably have something better than me.
you guys are great. got an answer within 2 minutes! just comes to show that ns forums = win.
anyways...yeah, i should probably check out that demo...im so stoked about getting this game <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> . i love halo, but i feel as though the FPS experience is most enjoyable with a keyboard and mouse

<a href='http://www.slickdeals.net/#p4772' target='_blank'>Halo PC is available in-store at Circuit Cities for $10</a>, at least for now. Considering I have a GeForce2 and considered co-op to be the most important buying factor, it's still not worth it for me. For many other people, now's the time to buy.
My 2 cents. (because ommiting this < would most likely start another argument)
Coop isn't that good on either, if you are buying halo you are buying it for the multiplayer, so that demo is a must try. If you want to play the singleplayer campaign rent it out and pass it with a mate.

I played Halo through a few times on my old PIII 733mhz with 512mb RAM and a GeForce4 MX. And it was choppy only sometimes. But then again, I don't mind games being choppy at times, I'm used to it.
So don't give me the "Oh I need a monster machine to run it!" If you're really such a perfectionist, where a drop in frames per second from 70 to 60 bothers you so much, then don't buy it, yeah.
But otherwise, Halo's a great game and I wouldn't swap it for a console one for anything.
I have both versions of Halo, the Xbox version, and the PC version.
Multiplayer CTF = TEH WIN. Tanks which make people fly away from the explosions = TEH WIN Being able to actually aim correctly and kill grunts the first time = Teh win too XD hehehe (slight exaggeration).
If it's only $10, I say get it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But yeh Xbox plays alot better for some reason, even on high end PC's.
The AI is pretty good when playing Heroic difficulty too(which is manageable but not too easy like normal and easy modes are - some areas will actually take you a few tries to get through), so don't listen to anyone who says it's crap <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

i hate this media-kiddy hype around halo.. the same is happening with halo 2 at the moment. a giant hype around a game that is just build of scripted events... and some nice bumpmaps. eyecandygraphics doesnt make a cool game.farcry is a good example..i was bored with it.

The best part about Halo for pc was the vehiciles. Everything else just ...meh. Since im used to emptying my clip into say an onos, it didnt bother me that I had to empty like 100 bullets into an enemy marine to kill him.
But as it being "choppy" im running a 1.7 intel celeron, radeon9000 64mb, 128 ram. I had about 30 fps average, which is fine to play with. Its low but you can still play.Of course with like all low graphics <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Oh yeah! Gotta love steering with your mouse! Sure, the tank is kinda clumsy, but it's really worth it for the sake of driving at 10000 mph and turning 180° on a dime with the warthog! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Gearbox did a bad job porting Halo to PC, which was a surprise to me because of their past work with Half-Life. Anyways, for some reason, even though I have a 1.2Ghz Athalon and a GeForce 4 Ti 4600, I get a steady 30fps at max resolution and everything turned up. Also, Gearbox really did something wrong because all the animations are incredibly jerky as if they're missing tens of frames when the frame limiter is not on. Also, ping is higher in Halo than in most other games for me. I haven't tried the Halo Custom yet.
Gameplay-wise, Gearbox also fudged things up when they included the useless flamethrower, incredibly overpowered fuel rod gun, and Banshee. Sure, they sound nice, but if you don't take time to implement them properly you mess up gameplay. Severely. I can get in a Banshee at the beginning of a round and get 30 kills without ever leaving the aircraft (except maybe to pick up the occasional overshield and hop back in).

Ever since HL2, it seems everyone has gradually come to the conclusion that scripted events are the devil and shouldn't exist. But even HL2, in its wide claims of (for the most part) not being scripted, -has- to have scripted sequences. If you want any sort of a story in a game, there -will- be a script and there -will- be scripted events.
A game with no scripted events boils down to an MP botmatch. Scripts progress the story and trigger certain key events that have to happen for that storytelling to be active. Even the most open-ended games are chock full of scripted sequences.
dont pick on hl.. it kinda invented the "telling a story with a scripted event" thing <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and hl2 does it complete different compaired to halo. i can remember the days of halo where it was a rts game ..it looked already like generals,but many years before generals was even a myth..lol.then they went to their idea of a massive multiplayser strategy egoshhoter thing..with a borderless map like tribes and tribes 2. it looked so cool.. and what was released? a crappy linear ego shooter..
(damn yeah..im a hl2 fangirl... ban me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
Personally I enjoyed Halo. The level design is a bit repetetive but always visually interesting, the story is a lot better than many I've seen with some interesting ideas in the world, such as the whole 'Halo' concept, (similar to Arthur C Clarke's spaceship in 'Rendevous with Rama' and the following 3 books) and it has a reason to be fighting an alien enemy that rings true - a religeous war! The Covenant themselves I think are the heart of Halo's gameplay. The levels don't offer much to think about, except vantage points and buttons to press etc, unlike say HL where a lot of the game was jumping puzzles and scripted envirionments. The different kinds of enemies are interesting and they all have their own character which I think lends a lot to the game (I loved hearing those little guys scream after being blown up with a grenade). I will agree that the hype around this game isn't absolutely justifiable, but to me it was a refreshing game to play after playing some other FPSs that just weren't entertaining enough.
So, not revolutionary, but it's a pretty damn good blast IMO.
>Edit< Man, after writing all that out, I go back to the original post to find out he was just asking about Halo Multiplayer! Oh well, I'll leave this up as a 'review' of Halo for people to stumble across anyway :p

But only if you have a super beefy PC. Otherwise, just rent an XBox.
but screw the PC anyway, halo is the ultimate console game.
