lolz! Ice is just tryin to big up sphere <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->, there's no such thing as a sig's thats too big! Anyways what's ns_draft? Was it in the beta testing? Any screenies?
doubt it would happen, ns draft died because lack of organization, also everyone was like "well we have a team now but we don't really want to play each other really..." and then we were waiting for some version of NS to go final and it didn't and then procrastination and then death...
Yeah, pretty much. If NSD were to be started again you'd need a huge atomated system that would send e-mails about up and coming matches, and the draft system needs to have some sort of automation, and the head leader can't be gone for days at a time (cough disk cough), and finally, the biggest problem with NSD:
Team Leaders. These are so hard to find. It's like running your own mini clan. You need to organize your team to win, and you need to make sure people show up (even though there should be a hypothetical e-mail alert system), and these guys have heavy requirements:
- Need to be skilled - Need to know most of the playerbase, and understand who is good and not good - Need to be leaders who can work with others - Need to be active
Also, since it's almost impossible to know everyone, basically the draft process becomes a huge guess process that may as well as be random.
Hopefully, the huge BUS thing will be a giant stats system for each individual player, and then team captains would have the sort of large scale stats that most baseball managers have, allowing teams to be picked with ease.
Who knows, if the BUS system is good enough then maybe NSD could make a comeback.
Of course, you'd need a super leet coder for NSD, and it'd be lots of hard work and very low rewards other than to have a huge pug-style tournament.
i think this might be worth another shot, with some decent admins this time. nsdraft failed because they refused to learn from CAL-CS's draft, and countless other "draft" leagues that came before it. i think the league would've got off to a better start had there been better automation and admin-leader-player communication. the admins of the first nsdraft put all the responsiblity on careless, irresponsible, and last-minute team leaders. like forlorn said, good leaders need to be sought out, and people that are never going to show up (got borf?) need to be rejected. simply put, admins need to take a more active role in the community, and better team leaders must be picked out.
but i hope something like this does work out eventually, it would definitely be something to see.
I've been considering reviving or doing something similar to nsdraft. I think the biggest obstacle would be making a functional website, ideally something similar to CAL's with automated team management. I really have no idea how to do something like that, so if an ambitious webmaster wants to volunteer some time I wouldn't turn them down.
DrFurious plans to restart nsdraft, but so far it's all in the works and he wants to make it nsclassic... so far he is doing exactly the same stuff as before, so I can't see it succeeding
It is already being worked on. The person working on it has the Channel, website and URL already. So if you're trying to restart it you should talk to the person who's already started work on it two months ago. Pm me in irc and i'll get you in contact with him. Find me on #animosity.

It won't work because people who are the major players are going to be comitted to their respective CAL teams, and won't care about the draft.
I participated in the first CS draft, it was a joke. The only reason the pro players played because they threatend to suspend them from the CPL if they didn't participate in something optional I remember [3D]Bullseye was really **** about that, he was on my team and wanted to play with his clan to prep for the CPL, our GM told him if he didn't play in the draft match he would be kicked off the CPL roster.
Draft leagues are a joke, it would save a lot of people effort and time if they just pugged, and started forming new clans by using #nspug.

Also, your sig is too big. Sig limits are 400*75 and 22 KB filesize.

Even then, I'm highly doubtful.

Scrimmage a bit and nominate leaders who would accept the challenge.
Thats a rough draft of what im saying, but you get where im going with it....
classic is what makes ns worth playing. i couldnt be bothered with another combat league. already tried ugl..boring as hell.
the whole idea of nsdraft is too bring new players into the competetive scene. and competetive ns is classic ns.
this time around the admins just need to be really selective with the team leaders they accept
he doesn't have the channel. unless of course, i'm blind.
