I wouldn't blame the Paroxysm comments on their community . . it was one dev and one suck-up. I've lurked there once or twice (I'm not going to let those clowns spoil the entire game for me), and it seems to be capably moderated now, so hopefully there won't be any repeat performances.
omg GREATEST MOD EVER! (cept ns, but that doesnt count cuz ns isnt released) i luv walkin around with an mp5k rippin people apart, then when i find a nice lil corner i wip out my silenced d eagle with a scope and snipe some people down, or just go blazin with an m4. GO DOWNLOAD NOW
its loaded with features, the graphics are awesome (well i guess some of that depends upon your computer) and its extremely fast paced. i mean seriously, it makes AHL look like table scrap
I'm extreamly suprised by one it's thirperson. Very, very very good way of doing it. The cross hair, in my personal words, is a bit large, just a tad smaller I would have thing it would be awesome. The learning curve is nice as well, I got how to play it in about 5 min.
Its very fun indeed. Sure it has a few problems here and there, and this and that could be better, but at the end of the day its just a blast to play. I was up till 2:30 playing it last night, not exactly a wise move on a school night. :P
Since I used to be a rabid AHL player it was very, very easy for me to pick up on things like the stunts. I was suprised to see that the stunts in TS were done BETTER than in AHL and the Opera! Just completely rocking and easy to use.
So far my only gripe is that it seems that as far as balance goes, its greatly geared towards the assault rifles and machine guns. This makes me sad, as I was hoping that Akimbo's would be a serious player on the field, much like in AHL. I love akimbo pistols you see. Especially silenced pistols.
Speaking of which, holy cow their view models are sexy and very well animated. Their mk23 is perhaps one of the best I've ever seen in a game, I just love how the silencer is on it. The lasersight is a bit cool too, thoug the end dot sprite could be much improved. The dual berettas though, those are heaven. Truely beautiful models. Hopefully their maps and playermodels will get to the same high level of quality soon.
Also, I *love* the powerups. The idea of a powerup that slows down time for the entire server is so cool and well done, I love it. :D
I like it a lot. I think AHL is still a bit more refined and stable, but I think The Specialist heading down it's current path has the potential to be the king of action movie-esque mods. That's to assume that the team doesn't fall into the first-release slump and give up when players start to dwindle like 95% of mod developers do.
SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST BUT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW THIS!
I know how to use power ups by double taping Use key twice, but when I try it on Kung Fu the timer goes off but I don't know how to fight with kung fu?
Man...you guys are all talking about kung fu and powerups and stuff like that, I just like using the stunt button to launch myself off buildings. I can't really comment on the gameplay since I've only played around by myself on a LAN game, but I gotta agree that the view models are really, really cool. The animations are superb, I especially love the reload animations and the way your character flips one gun (the Micro-UZI, I think) between hands when you push secondary fire. The animations just have a great amount of flair to them which really suits the theme well.
Elitebear is right, dont ever, EVER judge a mod. Its damn sad when one does.
Anyway: TS mod ROCKS!!! i DLed it last night and was screaming my head off in glee while playing, the level of animationand art didection just hits the right spot!!! wow!
the sounds are kinda high frequency, and the m4a1 does not sound like the one in real life, it should have more bass. The others, i dont know. The rolls, dives and flips and somersaults are awesome to see in thirdperson, and the death anims are Cool as hell
did u all notice that when after u kill someone and keep firing before the body goes down the body does a 'death jig' ? ^^
also, the bullet time conversion is a novel idea , especially on the part of coding!
all in all, its a lvoely experience, im going to play it now.
hopefully, this will keep my interest one more day ^^

I just found out there's a manual. its in \half-life\ts\TSmanual\ note though that the entire dev team is italians whose english isn't so great, so in some places the manual is hard to understand.
I figured out what the crosshair is all about though. The half circle on the right is your stunt indicator thingy. And the little dot that moves, if you notice, moves up and down when you look up and down. when the dot is in the upper part (you're looking up) you do a "high" dive. if you are looking forward, you do a "medium" dive. looking downward does a "low" dive. Each dive effects airtime and distance, as well as how much you slide along the ground after the dive has completed.
The weight (how much guns/armor you carry) affects whether you can do the "high" or even "medium" dives, bt you can always do a low dive. Ex: you have just akimbos and a pistol, you should be able to do a "high" dive, where you go higher into the air and fly even further. But if you do a low dive, you'll actually slide along the ground for quite a distance. Reversely, a guy with a m4, akimbo uzi's, and a mac10 is gonna be carrying some weight, so when he dives he drops with a thump.
I was just playing this for an hour. Its nice. It reminds me of AHL a little too much for comfort, though it surpases it. The "Stunt" mechanics are much better.
