How Can I Lower / Get Rid Of Loss?

Well my loss used to go switcvh between 1 and 0 but now its at a constant 3, totally lagging my computer up badly. Sometimes when i press fire once by Marine would fire half a clip. And sometimes ill go foward, let go of the foward key yet he still keeps going and I have no control over him for that period of time. I'd like to know if anyone can help me get rid of the Loss so my comp lag goes down to a minumum and I can enjoy HL Games in peace <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I keep getting losses of like 17 when i am in midair or jump throuhg a doorway... it lags me out and warps me back a few steps and puts my velocity back at 0...
At one point I got a loss of 78.
Please someone tell me how to fix this. My computer used to run perfect on NS. and I'm on a cable connection too... Now it hates me.
Lower your updaterate.
Usually if u are on broadband and you get loss / choke it is because u r uploading elsewhere <u>OR</u> the server has bad settings (low maxrate, high updaterate) or a bad connection.
Get spyware checkers and virus checkers also.
