You'll have to decompile the map. This is something that is very much frowned upon in the mapping community. If you want to know how something was made, ask the author instead of decompiling their map.

Off topic: your sig rocks. I love that song

Decompiling just gives you a corrupt mess of a map that doesn't tell you much about how they constructed it. Not only do mappers hate you for decompiling, but you get a craptastic mess that makes you wonder why you bothered. It's like being kicked in the groin... twice.

Quark will open a .bsp ... It wont let you edit, copy, or do anything to it, but it will show you the layout of the map, all the entities, how things work and what the map looks like etc etc...

Buddy, if your saying its very bad, then why tell people how to do it. You don't tell someone something is bad, and then tell them how to, it doesn't work!

    Anymore.

Anyway, yes as has been said decompiling maps is bad, but Quark will let you see the layout and entities of the map, so there is definitely a place to start.

For that you could just get BSPViewer. It allows you to view BSPs and fly around in them. Much better than decompiling.

QuArK wont let you edit brushes or entities but you can look at entity settings with it and even... *cough* copy/paste them in another map, for example *cough*.
