Psh. You guys just have to send me a private message or an email. I'll get it really quickly. (Preferably email, since that loads every minute, and the forums can go for hours without getting refreshed.)
My NSTR map is going to own you all <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
And in case you're wondering, I decided to do something entirely different from what I said I was going to do in IRC.
I even downloaded it again to make sure it uploaded correctly, it did and it works. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
And hey, look: perfect music for the race. Use it or you will spend eternity rotting in hell. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Greeds, your map is completely hilarious. I just bust a gut running around that. I like you you added the invisible observer walkways too.
I can't help but think about adding the minimum set of new entities that would add depth and skill to racing (speed boost, a one shot slowdown weapon, skill-based "rocket jump", etc). Too bad I have my hands full with some "other game".
Heh, you should add the new entities anyhow..that way mappers can stick race courses in their ready rooms <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
Sorry about my links not working...I had to move the files. Goto this site for ALL the maps I have ever DLed for NS Rally, including both of Greedo's Race maps, NS on Ice, and others (plus any screenies I upload):
Cyon has lots of cool things on his webfolder! Check it out! Also note the stylish white background <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Hmmmph -- the NSTR2 doesnt support vehicles! And I had that unicycle prefab all made up too! Imagine 12 marines with their arms stuck out racing through a space station on unicycles! its a shame, indeed.
Which brings up the question -- why isn't there vehicle support? Flayra, is there some reason not to have it? I can think of half a dozen(*cough* cs_jeepathon2k *cough*), but it seems like something you could leave in there, in case mappers need it.
I did not know where to send my Ns_race map so here it is. <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/games4/neags/neags_race.zip" target="_blank">http://www.angelfire.com/games4/neags/neags_race.zip</a> (you have to copy and past this link.)
I'm pretty sure I set up the zip correctly, but in case I didn't: The .wad file goes into your nstr\ directory. The .bsp file goes into your nstr\maps\ directory. The .mp3 and the .wav files go into your nstr\sounds\misc\ directory.
OMG Rhoads, AMAZING! lol! That was just awesome! Only problem I had was you can just run along the walls which is alot faster. So people who got on the server first would get those spots and everyone else would have to run the normal route <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
Rhoads, your map is extremely clever. It is also extremely surreal running around in that world as an NS marine. Which world you ask? Download it. You'll know it when you see it...
Neag, your link doesn't work. Host on readyroom.org maybe?
CyonPro, we need the other map mirror'ed, not Rhoads map <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Glad you guys like it <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I'm gonna make a slight update to it, mainly to clip off the edge where the judge/demo taker runs. Too many people were cheating in our test run of the map <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> I'm also gonna fix the teleport sequence that warps you on top of the castle when you finish (I think I knew why people were being zapped into the 2nd or 3rd place bin multiple times), fix touching the flag, and maybe add in a small section where you can run on top of blocks as a shortcut, but others can foil your efforts by breaking the blocks. Also, I would kill for a decent mp3 of the sound when you finish the level. Other than that, any suggestions?
That's easy, it's a spawnflag of the trigger_mp3audio. I had it off because it doesn't sound *that* good looped, but I kinda agree with you that it could take longer than the time of the mp3 to finish the race. I'll take care of that.
I've already wasted too much time on this map (I got three SI maps in the to-do bin, and I spend most of my mapping efforts on this map?), so unless anything really, REALLY bad comes up I won't be updating it.
Oh, and I'd love for this map to be an officially sponsored Flaytona map. Have fun! <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

its mad fun ...
And in case you're wondering, I decided to do something entirely different from what I said I was going to do in IRC.
<a href="http://greedo386.tripod.com/race.zip" target="_blank">Race</a>
And remember, unzip to the half-life\nstr folder.
=X
I lost the original .zip - so I had to make my own - it doesnt auto-install the files like Greedo's does. Sorry ..
if you need assistance with it, just read the readme.txt ...
