This game was boring, stupid, and shallow as hell when I played. Spend a ton of time in Basic. Get into a game, playing with little laser guns. On a pitch-black map that looks like it's made of cardboard boxes. Get Lightamp goggles, and head into the sewer, and get headshotted by a ganker with jacked gamma. Sit around all game while two guys camp each other to death (or I die of old age...)
Quanaut, you have the absolute worst taste in games I've ever seen. You would be thrilled with a game where the entire concept was to put a square peg in a circle hole in a pitch black room. You're like my friend who I take note of his favorite movies and make sure I never see them.
Plus, how is this a military simulation? If America's Army in ANY WAY AT ALL resembled real combat, you'd be looking at 600+ dead soldiers a DAY. In the real world, you get into a gunfight and slug it out for a bit. You don't jump over a wall and run into a room solo and headshot 3 guys.
REAL WORLD: A fireteam falls prone in a ditch. They know there's a half-dozen hostiles or so fortefied in the house up the road. They have to use binoculars to see detail, because really, most military conflicts aren't fought at 20 feet. They'll get their M249 gunner to lay down supressive fire, and either call in support, or perhaps if they have the hardware, fire a rocket-weapon, destroying part of the house. They approach the house, kick open a door and move in a four-point formation through the rooms. "Nice going team, blah blah."
AMERICAS ARMY: A half-dozen guys or so are in a house. One guy with an M16 headshots one of them through a window and tosses a grenade, instantly gibbing two more. He runs up to the door and pushes it open and kills another guy. "ROFL PWNED LOLOLOL NEWBS"

Meh.. I like the game. Myself, i like realism over gameplay. It at least demonstrates the way the American Army trains (at least i hope it is the way they do).

It should've been up by now, who knows...
And as Sonic said: Wow, you didn't like it EEK? Hmm...wonder why I'm not surprised...
And frankly, you just got on a bad map. Why not try going on ANY(yeah, ANY) server with Pipeline, Mountain Pass, Bridge- wait, nevermind, ANY SERVER NOT RUNNING .MILES., and you'll see how expertly done the maps are. I haven't experienced a bad one yet, and were talking 30+ maps here. Only thing I wished for was availability to make our own.
And even without it, there are hundreds of ways to do each map, and thats just from Defense. Try assault! There's even more there.
EEK, to me, you seem like the most extreme form of hypocrite. Not once have you said something good about any game, and sometimes I feel as if its your personal goal in life as to insult my tastes- in which many people on this forum agree with me, so maybe a lot of people's tastes.
As to everyone else: Sheena, Jaeger, you guys have a standard server that you play on? I've just been getting lucky, but I'd LOVE a server with Squad Tactics. Name/IP? It would appear the game has a few new bugs. Firstly, some sniper certified players could not select sniper classes on any map, while others could. I belong to the former group.
Before anyone says I didn't pass the test, I got a 38 on basic marksmanship and passed both sniper trials in the bad old days of 1.0; I have also passed all the other (completely worthless) training levels since then. Several other players were also complaining of the bug, so I'm fairly certain it isn't "just me."
At this point, I don't know if anyone knows why the bug is occurring - I know I don't - but if anyone here has a clue, I would appreciate a tip.
Additionally, I've been disconnected from a server for no apparent reason, and I don't think it was an administrator kick. It could have been punkbuster, but I don't h4x0r. I've also been dumped to desktop with a fun little error message a few times.
the Auth servers should be up within 72 hours (that is what they say)

I've been wanting to try this for quite a while now but I haven't got around to downloading it, and now I remember why. It's damn near impossible to find a decent mirror. Does anyone have a link ot a torrent or something?
