scooter_blue strikes back.
Thought you might like to check this out.

This scooter_blue is quite persistant I must say. Apparently He's PMing people on this forum in an attempt to get them to go here:

http://nsforumreform.proboards21.com/

QUOTE

1) We will help protect against administrator abuse and establish administrator accountability on http://natural-selection.org/forums/ by acting as a watchdog on all administrator actions. When an administrator edits a post, deletes a post, locks a thread, deletes a thread, temp bans a user, or permanently bans a user, it may be reported here in the "NS.org Forum Moderator Actions" section. Users will then have an opportunity to vote on whether the action was objectionable and explain why.

2) We will help improve freedom of speech for the NS.org forum by acting as a safehouse for both posts that have been subjected to moderator misconduct on the NS.org forums and posts which the poster wants to protect from such misconduct. Post any such messages in the "Open Discussion" section.

Is it just me, or does scooter_blue have..issues?

You would have thought being banned would have been a pretty clear message to him.
  • BigMadSteveBigMadSteve Join Date: 2003-02-12 Member: 13472Members
I got a PM from him too. He's got a huge list of actions taken by mods here on his forum. From the ones I read they all seemed legitimate (legit actions by mods).
  • napinapi Join Date: 2003-03-01 Member: 14172Members, Constellation
i read a few bits, got bored as it's just him kicking up a fuss about every thing, and then left...

    i got that pm aswell

he thinks that "freedom of speech" laws apply on the forums - until he pays for and hosts them (and owns) then he is subject to the admins rules... the ban evasion in the first place should get him banned from every forum in the world

The fact that he has document roughly one hundred different locked threads distrubs me. Some one hold me.
  • devicenulldevicenull Join Date: 2003-04-30 Member: 15967Members, NS2 Playtester, Squad Five Blue
Yea... lets report every lock made by one of the mods, that makes perfect sense </sarcasm>

Its like saying "Because I'm whiny and think I'm too 1337 for the search option, I'll just post questions that have been answered 100 times before, because I don't want to search"

Interesting. I've never seen a moderator/admin decision that I haven't agreed with, though. I think he's obsessing too much over this place.

From what I've read, he's evaded multiple bans, and created an entire forum section just because someone deleted a 25 page about the advantages and disadvantages of using sensory chambers first. Its not like there havent been hundreds of the exact same topic before now is it? *rolls eyes*

Yeah, looking back over Scooters list of posts made.. I can't say I disagree with the actions taken against him. Swear dodging, remaking locked/moved threads, being one of those "Omg the dev team should owe me something even though its a free game I'm not paying for but they should still do this or that or follow some release date no one ever said they would be able to make anyways" people..

Now, the last one doesn't really break any rules, but seriously.. Its just being an all out smacktard. Oh noes, the dev team didn't get something together in time for a release date that was hardly even offical.. I mean, the release dates have always been "When its done." If the team releases a date, it is the date in which they are hoping for it to be done, if it isn't done on that date, thats just how it is..
Its not like they owe him anything. He isn't paying for NS. No one "pays" for NS. Constellation members donated. Donations are not paying for a game.. They are paying tribute to the dev team for making the game.. or something.

Not to mention his most recent "omg mass pm the ns boards" stunt. Again, while not really a rule, I've found unless there is a good reason its frowned upon. Scooters reason is hardly a good reason.

Since this is obviously non-sense, I feel its time to begin modifying quotes from Casablanca and Grim Fandango, with a bit of Marxism for good measure.

    That said:

"I am shocked, SHOCKED to find moderating in this forum!"

"I remember the year they installed that moderator, mostly because that was the year we didn't get Christmas spam."

"The forumites shall control the means of production of STUPID."

I for one find myself in agreence with him. I do suppose that great minds think alike.

The roots of this board have been long since forgotten since the the nepotistic nature of the administrators have granted their powers on to individuals who share in the cerebrate collective. What we see today in the Natural Selection Forums, ladies and gentlement, is the administrators' goal for a utopian society, free from "trollers".

Now, superficiially, this sounds like reason to celebrate, but they are master weavers of discombobulation, and in doing so, they are weeding out the very individuals who signify reason, signify voice, signify independence.

I can smell the arrogance and sarcasm, and it makes me sick, sick like one whose intestines are left devoid of nutrients as the parasites that cling upon it consume all my vigour. Your mockery of a very talented indivdual, that being "scooter_blue", is appaling, and I for one sympathize with his cause. In fact, I will take arms in support of his reformation, his revolution.

All your radius/ulna/humerus are belong to the revolution. The dislocation of such bones from you indivduals, either those who are willing, or those who recalcitrant, is of no consequence to me. The scouring of the arms shall begin today. scooter_blue has introduced a profound new ideology that you have all been blinded from seeing, which is the reality, what with all the bombardment of capitalist dogma, which have left you jaded. There are of couse, individuals not corrupted by such dogma. Individuals such as I. Yes, I am many individuals myself. And I shall come back with a vengeance to bring forth the freedom that this forum once possessed. I will not fail this community.

    Amen.

[edit] I'd like to make an apology right now regarding the sanity of the above post. Clearly, my psychotic tendencies have gripped me like the boa constrictor which strangles the life out of the siamese lion which it feasts upon. I meant to write "agreement", not "agreence". "Agreence", is, of course, not a real word.

    That is all.

I've watched the mods here myself, because I've always enjoyed finding reasons to be a freedom fighter on boards I go to. Makes me feel import*cough*cough* I mean I try to help the community. O_O

Anyway, I honestly haven't found a single thing to complain about here, other than some things I don't like regarding the filter's attitudes toward homosexuality. The admin staff here is very well balanced. They don't do too much, and they don't do too little. There's very few boards where I've seen that.

My guess is this guy has a fine mix of sour grapes and paranoia.

The NS mods are firm but fair. I've never seen a decision made by them that I didn't agree with. I've seen other forums that don't have strict and good moderation, and they're chaotic cesspools. The NS forums are a haven and that's partially due to the mods.

What. A. Moron. These boards are run the way they way because it works. I can't even recall the amount of times I've heard people say that the NS boards were their favorite, or that they were turned away from new mods they wanted to play because the community was so mismanaged and unwelcoming. The "benevolent dictatorship" that Nemesis Zero and his moderator team runs keeps this place from devolving into an endless pit of flame wars, oversized sigs and constant redundancy. Just look at the discussion boards - does he honestly think that could work on any other gaming board?

Shame on him, and shame on anyone that agrees with him. Nem, Talesin, Marik and the rest of the boys do a marvelous job, and should be applauded for taking on the rather unrewarding and often infuriating of keeping these boards in order, not criminalized for banning those that fail to follow the rules.

Edit: Oh, I know no one sane is actually behind this guy, I just felt this needed to be said.

Oh yay, I hope this board becomes a democracy, that would be a REAL efficant way to process the hundreds of rediculous post, thousands of flames full of swear filter dodges, and many required bannes. </sarcasm>

I honestly don't how scooters forum could do anything but make me do alot of work I don't want too do to counteract the endless **** from the people who sit in the thing all day insisting that no one should be banned for anything.

The current system works great and the mods are good at thier job. If they make a decision I can't imagine that I would be against it, I certainly never have been before.
