I understand most of it now but still, i get stuck at this certain bit
A couple of things:
Is there a charging handle somewhere in there?
Get some reference pictures of that G-36 rail. Pictures at different angles will help you decide the proper shape and design of those rear and front sights, as well as the proper shape on that rail. Currently, all you have are squares coming straight out, and that isn't what a rail looks like. It can easily be fixed by moving a couple of verticies on each square, so no new polys should be added.
Here is a really good pic showing good detail on the rear sight (it's not covered) and front sight. It also shows the shape of the "squares" on top of the rail, how it blends in to the sides to create something a scope can grab onto

As for the circles:
1) take note at the smooth rounding in this area.
2) take note as to when the rounding here begins; just above the indentation
Still, it may just be those renders, but it looks pretty good! Even if you don't change the rounding on number 2 (that would almost mean a complete rework) I'd still use it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
i am aware that there is no charging handle/cocking lever whatever, but got lazy <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
the sight rail is actually off a SL8 prototype (pic attached) but for all intents and purposes is a G-36C sight.
please please please somebody do another model or give Redd's a second run i'll be your bestest friend!!!
need i say more?
You find guns, chop the pieces you like out and then combine them. In Photoshop, most likely.
Notice, on the picture below, how the rail would look if you saw it from the front (outlined in yellow).
Also, I know you measured the height of your front sight and rear sights from the side view, but it's pretty badly out of shape when you look at the reference pictures. One solution is to widen the rail (it does look a bit on the thin side), or you can shorten the sights themselves.
It doesn't matter if it's not exactly to scale with the rifle, but the various parts on the rail should be proportional to each other.
I've attached a few more reference pictures that should help you out. Keep at it!
super high poly models
