Yeah, that topic has been talked about for as long as I can remember, and while it will make the aliens more varied, its not the topic at hand!
Swaping acid rocket and meta, and returning Acid rocket to say 40 damage and 3/2 the Adrenaline cost might work. 25 damage is just far too low... its the same as gorge spit!
And give lerks back spikes and strafing.
Not sure what the best thing to do to onos is. They need to be scary without being overpowering. Paralise might help. Stomp is far too map dependant. A ramp or stairs and its useless.

problem with upping acid rocket and moving it to 2 hives, as i see it is that rines dont have a very effective long range weapon. HMG is ok but if a fade is any distance away it will be able to deal out large amounts of damage and not be able to be killed. Shotties would become a bit useless as a fade killer as well, and at the begining of a game they are the only higher weapon available to counter the res-whoring fade.
I agree that NS is a bit dull in that all the aliens are essentially just hit and run. I dont see any easy solutions to this problem... lerk is just a dud imo, but beefing it up mite just make it more unbalanced, so I dont think that is the answer. An early fade is a big enough head-ache for the rines, to say nothing about having to worry about even earlier super lerks.
I could mention 100000000 more issues I have with NS but I dont see the point. Its still pretty fun to play despite its faults, and ill F4 if im getting piss3d off with it <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yeah, but the old gorge heal spray would kill marines easily enough! (cara gorges this is)
Yeah, I'm not suggesting fades just get acid rocket, they would need to have their health lowered a bit to comensate to their new role, and blink replaced with the old blink would be nice... Or maybe you actiavte blink for a good chunk of energy (maybe 1/4 total) and you go invisibile and invincilble and no gravity and fast for 2 seconds say. So its a blink in blink out, but if you use all your adren you can't blink out until its back up.
Maybe lower the damage of the HMG but tighten its cone of fire, that way it will be less effecitve against onos, but more effective against fades? make it a bit more varied? (not sure if it would help against skulks or hinder)
AR would be useful as a third hive ability if it were given blast damage (which means it deals double damage VS structures) and a 5-10 increase in damage.

Fades are too strong as it is because the HMGs can't hit them. Onos go down much faster because the HMGs don't spray enough to miss their huge hitboxes. This is an excellent idea, and I would love to see it implemented. It would balance out the aliens more. As it stands now, if the fade's at any type of distance, even if you're aiming right at it, a very small portion of the bullets will actually hit.

Yeah, once the HMGs are out I'm reduced to blink-by swipings, unless I manage to blink into a place where the guy I'm chewing on is keeping his friends from shooting me.
This would be IF acid rockets were back in at hive 2 though, so fades could fight HMGs at long range. The tightening cone would let the HMGs fight back, but the lower damage would help the onos not die as soon as they turn the corner.
I Think that a good way of geting the good old game back would ether be reduce res costs or make res easier to get that way every one would eather be the life from of their choice or the marine of there choice
All I'm gonna say is that while I'll still drop by the forums a bit and see whats going on, I've left the ns community. 3.0 lost its fun pretty quickly. It seemed games would either involve highly skilled rambos owning the marines, or marines with teamwork and aim owning skulks who couldn't bunnyhop. I haven't seen too many close games.
You guys have lost me to counter strike. I can 1) play with friends who don't understand ns 2) Get just as much, if not more teamwork (in ns we have res****s, which hurts the team. In cs, we have shield and awp **** who aren't a problem). 3) Games turn around quickly. One round, cts are pwning with more money than they can spend. Four rounds later, the ts have come back and are in the same position. Do we see that in ns? Nooooooooooo!!!
I love ns... but I gotta say it's gone downhill. I hope that if they put in the hugely popular unchained chambers idea then we'd have a much more diverse and fun game.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have similar feelings.
In summary, you've lost me to cs, but theres still hope so I'll check back fairly often.
