Ong-bak
<div class="IPBDescription">Someone elbow my face off</div> Someone made a mention of this movie in another topic before, and I dismissed it saying the action wasn't really that great. My face needs to be stepped on for that.
Yes, the acting sucks, the story sucks, the characters grated on my nerves at times, and the music scraped my ear drums.
But the fighting is just unbelievable.
I originally complained about the fighting not being very stylish and was simply a more orderly and vicious WWF. If I could meet myself in the past, I'd stomp on his face from the air. Yes, this isn't John Woo stylish, nor does it possess the grace of Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's not furiously the fast-paced and flowery type of fighting you see in HK films either, but its more than just the Gladiator type brutality. However, if someone compares this movie to some **** fake wrestling, that person needs a beating (i.e., I do).
This is possibly the most grittiest fighting film I have ever seen. You won't believe just how brutal it is. I mentioned earlier that the sound effects leave something to be desired. THEY DON'T. THE DULL THUD OF FLESH BEING POUNDED TO A PULP SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL IN THIS MOVIE. No wires, no CG, just raw meat getting the **** kicked out of it.
You guys and gals need to watch it. Go ahead and skip just to the action scenes if you can't take the lousy story. You're not missing much. JUST WATCH THE FIGHTING AND CRINGE IN AWE AT THE DOMINATING AWESOMENESS. NOT WATCHING THE FINAL FIGHT SCENE IS A CRIME THAT SHOULD BE PUNISHABLE BY SLUDGEHAMMER BEATINGS.

Where was this filmed?
The martial arts used is Muay Thai kickboxing, and the language spoken also suggests this.
/+1 for detective skills
Finally ya have seen the light.
Woooot
It is an awesome Martial Arts movie, but nothing more in the aspect of plot and all that. Just fights that kick posterior.
