    Cause they suck. They have sucked since before 3D accelerators were a wet dream in John Carmack's pants, and it saddens me that NVidia sucks so much now that ATI is actually starting to look good.

    You know, I'll actually get the dough to buy one of those end of the month, but I won't invest so much money. Instead, I'll buy a R9800 'with all icing' and a little spare RAM. In the end, it should result in the same kind of performance in the short and middle term (And who wants to talk about long term in <i>this</i> market, anyway?), and I still come out cheaper.

    Actually, Nem... the X800 non-pro is twice as fast as the 9800 XT. It's a good investment, until the 9800XT comes down to -$200.

    And Doomles, ATi *used* to suck. Most specifically, their drivers blew goats through a straw. They came out on top with the 9700, and so had time to work on them... the Catalyst 4.5 suite is great. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> nVidia's actually going down the same road 3Dfx did, shortly before nVidia bought them. A slower graphics card, trying to migrate to a closed-standard 3D language, insisting that they're faster (but cutting image quality painfully)... and they're losing market share. ^_^

    EDIT: I wouldn't know... How are Omega's nVidia drivers? And my GeForce 2 downstairs seems to be pretty solid, but then again, so does my AIW Radeon 9200 with Catalyst drivers.

    Omega isn't making nVidia drivers any more, last I was there.     While you're at it, can someone give me $189 Canadian? I need to buy a round-trip plane ticket to visit a friend. Flying from Canada to the US via Air Canada if I leave in November and stay for an entire month is only $189 in the Economy class...

    Anyone who has had the misfortune of dealing with an ATI Rage series card will know why me (and probably DOOManiac) hate ATI. Even if their newer cards are better than the competetition, nothing can make up for the Rage Pro... I've been scarred for life.
