<div class="IPBDescription">Only a quater scetched.</div> Yeah. Me and some other guys are about to start making a map ns_horus. We have ideas but are well... n00bs to mapping. I know some stuff from mapping for CS but I found NS is alot harder <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> But anyway. This might be a little big. And it is open for anyone to edit to improve. It is the overview for the marine's starting wuater of the map. Please make suggestions and you can edit any of the overview you want. I will soon make 3 others hopefully before the weekend and put them up on this topic for editting.

I'm looking for Feedback from anyone. You can test what i've done by PMing me and becoming a Beta Tester. I will get 5 of these max. Mainly because the best way for feedback is by getting it from someone who has played the map. PM me for becoming a Beta Tester and I will get the map sent to you with the required models.

Map ideas are:

Marine Start - Science parts of the base. As you can see.

Hive 1 - A broken down Marine Base. The Marines have retreated from there and relocated to the Science Labs where they must restart with the fast growing Kharaa.

Hive 2 - Canteen. Pretty simple. Canteen overrun. Might use that steak model lol. Tables been turned over, infestation coming from the hive. You know the stuff.

Hive 3 - Barracks. Again pretty simple. Gun racks tossed over. Can't pick up the guns. Security room ajoining at the back of the baracks. Need to weld into it. Has weldables in there which open certain doors and turn off some gas(maybe)

Pic/s is/are a bit large. Sorry about that. It is due to my 1600x1200 resolution so I find it easier to make it this big. Again. Sorry.

Anyways. Here is a really shabilly done overview of the marine quater. Please edit and make suggestions.

    By the way... At the crossover one part goes under the other and ramps up. And at the X Junction the part where the three ladders are is raised on the right. Might stick a door there aswell as to try to prevent a turret factory completely blocking it off easily.

    Specimen testing rt room only has one entrance, not sure how it would affect the aliens gameplay but I would at least ad a vent or two <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And that top corridor into the marine start is bothering me not only being maybe to much in favour of the marines, but also r_speeds wise since you can look into the marine start from a long distance and also see some other rooms.

    I see what you mean. I'll make that hallway into a kind of WW1 trench zig-zag so you can only see parts. I'll edit it tomorow.

    Edit : I'll stick a vent from Y Junction into Specimen Testing. Just opposite the other vent. Will that work?

    Vents can be annoying to place. I prefer putting them in the map after the maplayout is done so I can see where it would be logical to have vents and also make them look realistic <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Things to keep in mind for designing a layout:

    - gameplay/flow
    - resnode placing
    - possible lockdown places for the marines (layout or the placing of weldables)
    - keep it simple enough so player can learn the layout with ease but do keep things interesting

    linkage with some nice info (also stickied <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

    Pic is quite large... even if your resolution is set at 1280x1024 o_O! Could you please resize it a bit next time?

    Ack... I work in 1600x1200... Sorry about the pic size. Looks fine in my res lol. Plus it's easier to work that size for me due to resolution. I'll just add a sorry note and warning at the start.

    ??... Weren't me. I'm using the worldmodels topic to get the models i'm using. Yeah I think I might need a modellor later aswell. But not for about a week or so. I've started making the map. Gonna need a texturer as I suck tbh. Am just using simpl textures at the moment so I can look around what I've done with Sgt.Barlow(He helped me with Marine Spawn a bit) I'll post some pics tomorow <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->. The marine spawn is different than before now btw. Noticably different aswell.

    Btw... Can someone give me feedback? Or if anyone wants to test what i've done so far PM me. I wanna know what to improve on. Plus the detail isn't in yet and the lights are going to be changed alot so ignore them if you wanna test. Please?

    Yeah i'll change the lights. Considering i'm really a n00b at maps. First NS map. And I know there is an edit button. Why do you think the first post keeps changing? Get the hint?
