Ok this is my second try on this model.. I haven't tried to skin it yet, because I still think there could be work done on it, thus me posting here. Give me your suggestions.

    I don't have a clue. I do maps... Am working on one atm with a few mates.     Phew, what nice guys... lol. Though I do want to try a hand on skinning it.     well you're going to have to learn to mesh too, if you want to skin it. Check the stickies for some links.

    front end near the barrel seems kinda boxy but that may be how you wanted it and the carry handle thingy with the sights seems too thin but very nice <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    very nice, add the front grip, a trigger guard and thicken up the iron sights some, or make the 2 sides of the iron sights closer to gether, and you got a winner

    I'm not really sure about thickening the iron sight, but I'll try it out and see how it looks.

    A guard maybe, I was thinking about doing that.


    edit: I added a trigger guard on the concept, and I couldn't draw it a way to make it look good, so I don't think I'll add that.

    Question for those who use wings3d.

    I've made a UV map, I think, but I don't know what to do to next, like how would I add a texture to it, etc...

    im no skinner but i think you gotta get it into .bmp format then get it into photoshop or something and do your best at skinning

    it's a lil harder in milkshape than in lith...

    select the group that's assigned to the right "material"... hit ctrl+t...
    hit printscreen, and h4xor it out...

    for lith, load up your model, and slect only one material, and hit the little disc icon up top... and it auto-saves it as a bmp

    Its nice, except for the butt of the gun, (Guess its called the stock..?), which is kinda funny.

    What exactly is Lith? And what did you use to render?

    Lithunwrap is a UVmapping/Meshing tool... it's free to use, the current and fincal version is 1.3... the more popular Ultimate Unwrap 3D, is *not* free... and is an updated Lithunwrap...

    One slight suggestion might be to chamfer the edges a little (make them non-perpendicular angles, by adding some angled faces and essentially rounding/beveling the corners). Max has a button for that, not sure about wings.

    BTW: looks really awesome, and wings3d makes some cool looking renders (much better than milkshape)

    I didn't really like how things came out rendered in Wings, maybe because it wasn't skinned or something. But unskinned didn't really look that good, to me atleast.

    This UV mapping stuff is really confusing for me... so I'm not sure if I'm going to try and do it, maybe some other time. Sooooooo if someone would like to do it for me, please let me know, and I'll get the Wings3D/Milkshape file to you.

    Only a few people know how to mesh nowadays. Easier to do it yourself.
