Ok this is my second try on this model.. I haven't tried to skin it yet, because I still think there could be work done on it, thus me posting here. Give me your suggestions.

import in milkshape, get it skinned, export with hands and bones, give it animations and then compile. but dont worry, one of us will do that for you. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> you just have to finish
But before I try all that, any suggestions for the model before I try and skin it?

Skinning? Or modeling?

I'm not really sure about thickening the iron sight, but I'll try it out and see how it looks.
A guard maybe, I was thinking about doing that.
edit: I added a trigger guard on the concept, and I couldn't draw it a way to make it look good, so I don't think I'll add that.
Alright I added the grip, and I fixed the barrel a bit.
I've made a UV map, I think, but I don't know what to do to next, like how would I add a texture to it, etc...

I got this far... so now what.
select the group that's assigned to the right "material"... hit ctrl+t...
hit printscreen, and h4xor it out...
for lith, load up your model, and slect only one material, and hit the little disc icon up top... and it auto-saves it as a bmp

my ugly render:
What exactly is Lith? And what did you use to render?
Lithunwrap is a UVmapping/Meshing tool... it's free to use, the current and fincal version is 1.3... the more popular Ultimate Unwrap 3D, is *not* free... and is an updated Lithunwrap...

I'll check out that guide Cooks.
BTW: looks really awesome, and wings3d makes some cool looking renders (much better than milkshape)
This UV mapping stuff is really confusing for me... so I'm not sure if I'm going to try and do it, maybe some other time. Sooooooo if someone would like to do it for me, please let me know, and I'll get the Wings3D/Milkshape file to you.
I would do it, but i have other things <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
