Star Wars: Galaxies is super duper duper duper mega awesome crazy fun. But this is coming from the biggest Star Wars fan on the west coast, so be careful. I've played other MMORPGs and they just don't really do it for me, but Star Wars Galaxies is definetly worth playing. I can't wait for the space expansion where they add twitch based ship to ship combat! SWG has all the "normal" MMORPG stuff you'd want like a bunch of loot, randomly generated missions, a house to decorate, crazy character customization, and doing delivery missions when you get bored. But then there's all the Star Wars stuff that makes it so amazing: Imperial Stormtroopers stop you in the street to scan you, rebels and Imperials duke it out in the spaceport whenever they meet just because, there are hidden ruins all over the planets that you can discover and be the only one to know about, and much more. The worlds are HUGE: if you add up all the planets' surface area, it's bigger than a country somewhere. This is either the biggest MMORPG, or very very close to it (EQ has 7 expansions so, uh...). The player created content is everywhere: almost every weapon or item you use has been made by someone else. It's pretty bug free compared to lots of other MMORPGs. The GUI is fully customizable, since you can drag, resize, and close out of any window you don't like. You really can't beat speeding around on your swoop on Tatooine and happening across a group of people hunting a Krayt Dragon. I would wholeheartedly reccomend it for people who aren't stodgy weeners whose only purpose in life is to pick apart Star Wars games that aren't the computer game equivilent of sex.

Actually, I just tried this, and my biggest beef about it is- its about as newbie friendly as a sealed off shotgun.

That, and the engine is very picky. In the wilderness I'm running 40fps, but in cities, 15-25.

And the interface...well, it IS customizable...but is annoying as hell.

And at night, you can't see anything, and night just isn't fun.

    Waah.

Gets boring when you realise you've just killed your 2000th worrt just to level up so you can kill worrts easier next time.

You need to play it for a few days before you get the hang of it. And remember: a LOWER weapon speed is good. LOWER.

Nonono- I mean is overwhelming as all the world wanting you to die at once. And the REALLY bad map feature doesn't help <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Meh, to each his own. I found it really friendly, and nothing tries to kill you unless you venture outside of town. Besides, you can always run away.

Where are you running around? If you stick to populated, Imperial controlled cities, there will be stormtroopers or local police around to help you. And you can always burst run.
