<div class="IPBDescription">Will Flay-man attend??</div> I saw this at GameSpy.com

No date has been set, but Valve plans to have several of their employees available at that seminar to answer questions about working with the new technology. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Is Flayra going? Can we donate specifically for this? Will we?

Thoughts, please...

It would be nice if valve recognised this. Maybe its cause he wont sell out like the DoD and CS teams?

I honestly doubt it. Charlie is as far as I'm aware already past his first contact with the Source engine, and generally, he's just not a member of the designated core audience - that of hobbyist modders - anymore.

    i doubt it

from what i see, NS will not be a mod on HL2
    NS2 will be a <i>stand alone product on a next-gen engine</i>(i.e. UT2k4, HL2, DOOM3 etc. i think it will be HL2 tbh)

i can see unknown worlds becoming as big as the big developers, i.e. EA, Capcom etc.

    P.S. you spelt flayra as flaya <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hm, you nailed it, I guess.
Maybe he could send someone else, for porting NS1 to Source? It won't be NS2 but rather NS:Source...

Anyway, wether NS comes for Source or not, I will play NS until Flayra makes NS2...

It may not be a <b>mod</b> for Hl2 but Flayra could License the Source engine itself.

It would be nice for him to show up at the seminar.

I hope he does, even if he doesnt make an NS for HL2. It would be nice for him to show up.

It is also very possible that source engine won't be used at all either for mod or a stand-alone game. There are tons of engines nowadays that can match up to source. Source was impressive one and a half year ago, it's not anymore, just look at Far Cry and Painkiller for a couple of example. Anyhow the only upside I can see for him to use Source might be that the sdks probably will be alike.

i do belive that i've heard through the grapevine that flayra has decided on the engine he'll be using... what it is, and what it isn't i don't know, but he's got his eyes set on it...

Maybe at some time in the future, Flayra will be holding a modders seminar for all the potential modmakers to his own game? :>

    The EYES OMG THE EYES!!!

more sensibly, yeah the hl2 characters look a lot more realistic and the engine seems to be very mod friendly (ie very simlar to hl code, valve have converted all the current hl1 content over to hl2)

Go check the front page news if you want to see Flay's plans for handing over NS to another programmer.

Er? There's nothing there about turning over coding... just adding MORE coders.

Now it may not explicitly state that NS is 'being handed over', I'm sure you can tell by the english used is that Flay wants someone to tend NS while he goes off to work on bigger things like NS2.
