Different Waypoints

<div class="IPBDescription">where did they go?</div> Ok, I know that there are different waypoints a commander can make other than the normal "move". I know that it's easy to make the "biuld" waypoint, but i know that ther has to be a certain way to make these waypoints. Others that ive seen are the "guard" and "weld" but there are a bunch more. I want to know how to make these waypoints and what different types there are.

I already searched for a topic like this, but couldnt find one...

I thought they were still there...Just harder to actually do...

Like, "pick up equipment at waypoint"...I dont remember ever seeing that one, not even in 1.0x, but I know it is/was there

You have to get the mouse over an exact pixel in the very middle of the object or something stupid. It's rarely worth the effort.

It was real easy to do pre-2.0 as you had the area of the object to click on. I believe this bug was a side effect of preventing the placing of structures on other players which was first introduced in 2.0.

There are guard, build, weld and attack target waypoints as well as the standard movement one if I remember correctly.

Edit: there may be a "press this" waypoint too.

    funny you should mention this
cheesy has jsut made a plugin that fixes the wps i.e. you can now give all the different wps very easily

I've been playing for ages and I've never seen that waypoint. It would be pretty useless since the commander can manipulate doors and lifts himself anyway.

Well it's in the sprite file and I seem to recall seeing it once in 1.04

Even though it would be pretty useless, I don't think most commanders know that they can activate doors and lifts... Lots of commanders say something like "keep that door closed" or "keep the elevator up", when they can save the lives of marines and possibly crush the other team (literally).

the way i managed to get 'weld target at waypoint' 'guard target at waypoint' and 'build target at waypoint'(more common than others) was to make sure the thing you are trying to give the waypoint is in the very centre of the screen, then click on it
it worked 90% for me on ns_origin
i couldn't get attack target though, the aliens just wouldnt stand still

It's true, I've seen the commander mode do some interesting things. If you run the top-down view over the open-and-shut door activation panels on Nancy JUST RIGHT, you can trigger the doors at any time and open them or shut them.

Trap doors and elevators are the funniest ways to kill fades and onos ever. You shut off their main escape route, such as the side elevator in Bio hive near the left hand siege point, and they have nowhere to go and no chance to run before they die.

I only know about the doors in Nancy, and that was with sv_cheats 1, so maybe it doesn't work normally.

A list of these things would be cool I guess. Who has free time and no dates?

you can open any door and move any lift that you could by pressing a switch.
i'm not too sure about doors that open automatically(like the ones in co_rebirth)

Last time I checked you don't hit the switch but you hit the door or lift itself in order to get it moving as a comm. Hitting the switch would be hell since it's so small from the comm's POV.

i was saying that you could open any door/lift that had a switch, not that you had to click on the switch itself
  • UnknownUnknown Join Date: 2002-06-12 Member: 759Members
You don't have to click on the button, you can also click on the lifts themselves, not sure if that works anymore though, since elevators are now considered doors...
