I had the same problem a while back quanaut. I used to end up with 4/1 kill ratios in most games I played, nobody will play me in bomberman/SSBM and the like anymore after I won 3 v 1 matches against them... I'm just lucky my friends in Dundee could kick my rear at fighting games... well, sometimes they could so there was equality. In the end I just found myself shifting to more coop tastes like CoH, ye olde gunstar heroes and the like. It's a lot more fun helping other players than beating the snot out of them
I'm the opposite of Quanat...I've NEVER excelled at any game, except maybe outside FA 2.5..I've always been average or below average, and can't improve my skill at all. Even after more than 6 years of playing FPS's.
the solution to quauauauauawangyuanaught's problem is, of course, to find out why you're so [apparently] good at these games, and then find games or playing styles that oppose that... i.e if you're a 'rush out use your reflexes to bink everyone you see' kind of guy, then dod [well, how it SHOULD be in my opinion] would have you owned every 10 steps by someone holding their position of course, DOD isnt like that. but if i could mod games... *salivates* no, stop!
~huggles testament~ Don't worry... one thing to remember is that everyone is always getting better, which means while you've probably improved so have all the people who started playing before you ^^
It's annoying but it's a bit like MMOs... the more time you put in the better an edge you have... but no matter the edge there's always some exceptions to the rule =3
If you're really stuck in a losing streak, take a break. If you don't find you're improving sit back and watch those who seem to do better than you, check out what they know that you don't. Everyone has a different 'gaming style'. Mine has always been an emphasis on agility, stealth, skill and helping. I'm always the medic, the assassin, the speedy person who dodges or the person who can't take a hit but can blow you to smithereens before you can get close enough. It shows in every game I've ever played from RPGs where I'm the rogue or the cleric/magic user with the absurdly high dexterity, to fighting games where I'm the character with the lowest health but the nastiest attacks who constantly hits, runs and evades ^^
I never play the tough person, but that's just my play style =D
If that minute movement speed difference from 1.5 to 2.1 was removed, I'd be nigh impossible (okay, really hard) to hit in TS....rolling, as of now, is pretty useless, and gets me killed. The One mode always stays fun, even I do die within 30 seconds of getting it, though. TS is about th eonly game I'm any good at...and even then.

There's a really easy way of being humbled : try finishing Doom II on nightmare mode (alone and without cheats of course) , it's just a pain. You thought you could own thoses retarded AI monsters , yet they swarm you and overwhelm you. That will keep you occupied long enough imho...
Also , I doubt you can match the best Tribes II players. Thoses who still play have unreal skills...
Or try speed runing on Doom or Quake.

Get a good basic mouse/kb setup and a healthy desk layout, and you'll be decent within a few dozen hours of playing (coupled with a medium/low sensitivity for fairly idjit proof aiming of course).
Personally, I think anyone saying they're bored because they're too good is gloriously overestimating themselves - its easy to assume when you see the ease with which you can line up a target that you're grandiose at it, and that theres a hitbox to blame whenever that doesn't work. Truth is, theres endless room for improvement, and pretty much anyone with the correct basic layout can be an accurate supermarine and your run of the mill bhopping Skulk. In online games theres just a sadly huge content of abyssimally bad players due to bad controls.

No offense, but being good on LM isn't really an accomplishment.
Going the #nspug route is a great idea though, usually good competition there. It's less about the K-Dratio there anyway, if you just try to keep your ratio up in a pug, you're going to get your **** handed to you by the guy that puts his team's strat ahead of his own personal score.

Ironicly, this was the same reason I stopped playing RTS games that center so much around mass producing units, it just makes it to easy, and too simple, to win, hands down. Now, whenever I end up commanding in NS or playing an RTS game, I find myself just *trying* to find strategies that are hard to win with.(but not stupid, either.) Anyway, that's just my two cents. A lot of gaming Genre's have been going that way for a while now, Quanaut.
As far as FPS games go, playing with the high end vets is sure a damn challenge for someone who uses no scripts/exploits/etc. so that's pretty fun. ^_^
Haven't played many MMORPG's lately, either, just too many stupid people...
Overall point: The stupidity of the brainless masses is invading all the gaming genre's pretty much, as more and more games become geared towards the masses, instead of towards a specific or elite group. Learning curves are tending to decrease, too, I mean, that anyone can pick up the controler(or keyboard, or whatever), and learn how to play the game in sheer minutes, and be playing like a pro in a few weeks, really.
Anyway, that was my full two cents...really, I mean it this time! >.< XD
Yea, well, since humans always get tired of the borders of fun/experience/scores, I suggest taking breakes, or just don't play at all, and if you play, play just4fun, if you didn't do that after all...
wait, I got another idea. Play NS.....use mouse with your other hand! That should take your K:D ratio down a bit

Mapping is fun sometimes. But I think it's best to play with a friend or 2 while playing ns or so because I always play with a friend at least and its barely any fun (For me at least) to play a game with people I don't know (Only if I am new to the game will I play without friends).
