Alien Swarm
<div class="IPBDescription">Fanboy alert!</div> [Plug]
As a huge fanboy of Blackcat games, the guys that developped the Thievery mod, a stealth/infiltration mod for UT that was made several years ago based on the Thief universe, and after all this time still gives Pandora tomorrow a run for it's money... I've come here to plug their latest mod, which is currently in the testing stage.
The name of the mod is Alien Swarm, and it would be best described as a coop. version of Natural Selection Combat. Each player chooses and equips four marines who are then dropped off on a facility, where they have to cooperate to eradicate the aliens. Just from watching the trailer, you can see that their biggest inspirations were starcraft and aliens, because it really copies the atmosphere and feel of both.
The mod is made for UT2K4, so the graphics are stunning. The trailer says release in summer 2004, but it will probably be released sooner (the devs currently pinned the release on May the 30th). The modification is also entered in the "Make something unreal" contest, and I do believe it has a big chance of getting the first prize. It will also be features on E3, as a part of the same competition.
Go ahead and download the trailer. This is definately a mod to keep your eyes on. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Still, I guess you can't tell till you play it.
Oh and one of the aliens look's extremely similar to a fade
Either way I'll give it a shot when it comes out, squad, AI or not ^^
If you die, you will be switched to the next marine, etc etc.
If you have ever played Cannon Fodder, I think it'll be somewhat like that... but better. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I just like focussing on one character and lugging my 'extra lives' around with me bothers me sometimes (no matter how good the AI is =P ).

Well, the alternative is to just TK all your companions and fight the swarm solo.
Doubt that be effective though. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Err, I means starcraftish by the stimpacks, medics and the fact that the aliens looks somewhat like zergs. Most of the other equipment is semi-ripped from aliens, so that's where I got the aliens reference.
And alien breed was indeed a cool game.
