[EDIT] Also: Try to make the whole layout fit on one screen. (I have to scroll to see the whole thing, I'm running at 1152*864 with a 2-line taskbar and a 4-line layout in MyIE2.)

Yeah. Now that I look back upon it, more space for content would be nice.
(and not worry bout the size i just saved a jpeg version for posting it here
i can resize it without any trouble)
Anyway... It looks good but it will be very high bandwidth wont it. Side bar looks ok ish, but i agree it may be a bit too big.
Edit: Ohh my. doomaniac could code his way out of any situation, and thats his website... Sigh.

EDIT: [On-Topic] It looks pretty good to me.

Otherwise its pretty good for a first attempt.
Can't stress this enough... if you decide to use that kind of look, make it UNDERSTATED. Nothing looks as fugly as bright in-your-face glow. Well... except fugly over-used animated GIFs.
Almost suggested using anim-gifs to give the glow-lettering a gentle flicker, and maybe mouseover 'highlighting', but the flicker can be REALLY distracting from your content and irritate people. Moreso, the more subtle it is... it'll keep drawing the eye to just that LITTLE bit of motion that you're not sure is there or not.
And yeah. Too many grid/scanlines. The grid actually looks more like it's trying to be plaid. ^_^
that pic is only a jpeg and when i done the button will probly be flash

Why should he redesign his site? The current design suits him well, it would seem.
r00fles, I knew somebody would link it :D

What his site lacks in style it makes up for in juicy bandwith.

Dude that rivals Smart Bomb's page. You should write a tutorial on rocket jumping.
