Microphone Help

Ok I have this color cordinated headset and my headset works but my mic doesn't work I tried messing around with audio controls and so and nothing works. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

    A few system specs would be nice. Such as what microphone/headset you have, your OS, some hardware specs, etc.

    1. by default your mic is on mute (which you want it to be)

    2. is the plug in the write hole?

    3. do yo uahve a soundcard?

    4 if so are the drivers installed?

    5. if not, why not?

    All of the common sense things (Such has is my mic on mute or so) isn't the problem. Headset = Altec Lansing AHS-202 Headset. Plugged in on all the holes in the back of comp and none of them work. Tried to text hardware with direct x but a 0x80004005 error...

    I have the same problem, and unfortunately there really isn't a way to fix this. The only way I've found that fixes this is reformat....it's a DirectPlay voice problem....

    Other than that, lots of people have this problem and the only way to fix it is by reformatting.

    Ok instead of doing your reformating plan I just did this update thing which made my mic work and resetted a few things which made it hard for me for awhile but anyway it fixes it self.
