The Off-topic Faq?

That's a Q not a G
Reading through some other forums, I noticed that they all have FAQs labeled "Read before posting!", but oddly enough we lack one here in Off-Topic. Perhaps something with guidelines like "Off-topic does not mean no-topic" and the ever popular "no spamthreads" rule would cut down on the smacktards, or at least make them easier to handle?

I doubt it would cut them down. Only give the MODs a reason to ban 'em instantly.

I wouldn't mind a FAQ for the OT forum. Getting people to read it would still be a challenge though.

The point of Faqs, manuals and rules are not for people to read them, but more for the people that already understand what they are doing to be able to shout "RTFM NUB" when needed.

Yeah, pretty much. And it means nobody can complain that the spamthread rules aren't written down in the forum.

I find this topic amusing, if only the for the fact that the Q does indeed look like a G, eh?

Thats the good thing about rules, it means if someone breaks them we can point at them and tut a bit.

Without set rules that are potentially viewable to all people can justify the most obvious llamaish behaviour by saying "How was I supposed to know". Unfortunately you can't point at common sense/common decency the same way you can a few random lines

I agree on clear Off-topic rules in a FAQ.
