If it floats your boat I wrote a guide earlier today on how to configre and use a combat upgrade metabind script (confusing, teh thread explains) and also contains the appropriate code to keep the actual amount of scripting to a minimum. If called for I could also write a tutorial on how and why it works.

There's two things thing I've always been n00bish about when I am the CCC.
Search didn't find these so could some on please make a guide on / find existing guide on: <ul><li>Grouping marines into squads (I'm sorry I never learned and was always too ashamed to ask)</li><li>Making your left click do other things than "go to waypoint"</li></ul> Sometimes I want to select an enemy, tag a structure or person for welding, or tag a structure or person for defending. I know that if I click precisely on a func_weldable sprite I can get the "weld target" but how do you get to do the others? Is it some sort of impulse command instead of the +attack? I mean if it's like impulse xxx where ever you mouse is pointing at that moment make the "guard structure" type of waypoint.
This is really funny that I don't know these still even though I've been sucessfully comm-ing for awhile. So if some one can find or add a guide on these please include them in this master list. Thanx.

But a quick answer
-for squads, select who or what you want in a squad, then hold ctrl, and press any button 1 through to 5. I personally find it helpful to bind the armslab and obs as well.
-for the more specific orders, it's all very hit and miss, tbh, it's based on where you click (click on a friendly structure/unit, get DEFEND TARGET). There is a plugin for servers that makes the specific waypoints easier to activate , and is AMX based.
And yeah, dont' feel bad about asking, although I know it's one of the things we as people don't like to do, in general (that is, show what we don't know). Good on you for asking ! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I know people who have clicked "defend target" on people or chokepoints. Not just structures. I was looking through your guides, didn't see any things about these could you help me find them? (hard to search when I don't know what these things are called)
Also, real quick:
the CTRL-# bind sounds real similar to Warcraft III. So is it like: I select&bind the squad and then when ever I want to a specific waypoint I press the number 1 (things bound to that key) and then just left click and then select squad 2 buy pressing 2 and left clicking? And to select everyone for a universal waypoint I do what to reset to global waypoint? Can I SHIFT-click individuals and then CTRL-# bind them? Or do I have to use the rectangular field selector every time?
I'm sure I'm not the only one with these questions so adding them to the master list wouldn't be a bad idea.
I'll look through the links to see if it's explained more thoroughly. But yes, selection is just like in SC, or WC3, with both shift and CTRL to tweak your group. In all honesty, i only bind a key to "SELECT ALL" so i can give everyone a waypoint, and give an order by voice to which marines I would like elsewhere.
The SELECT ALL key is also very helpful in viewing marines health on the fly while they are in combat. There is also a SELECT ALL button on your Commander Hud, it's that little man in the circle where your hotgroups appear, in the top center.
AFAIK, you cannot have a DEFEND TARGET just on the ground or chokepoint. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps there was an RT in that chokepoint, and they gave the guard order on that RT?
