<div class="IPBDescription">Small update.</div> Though I do feel it warrants it's own thread.

I only have 2 things to discuss

<b>1.) Devilman
2.) Trava: Fist Planet</b>

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>1.) Devilman</b></span>
Devilman is a classic. Airing back in the early 70's it is one of the more... colourful series to air in a period where one would think this to be socially unacceptable. But air it did. It is a violent tale of a young man who possesses the powers of a demon, while retaining his human soul. He then wanders around and proceeds to rip every demonic form he sees limb from limb.
As I said, quite colourful.
Now 4 decades later, the Devilman series is renewed with the live action version set to air sometime this year.

If you thought Casshern looked awesome, wait till you see what Devilman produces.

*whistles* I'm gonna rip your arm off and beat you to death with it~~~

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>2.) Trava Fist Planet</b></span>
Take one serve of FLCL.
Take one serving of Giant Mecha.
Mix them together.
And you have Trava: Fist Planet.
That is the only logicial way I could begin to describe Trava. After a long period of war, missiles and chemical weapons are outlawed. Too circumvent this problem Living Weapons were developed as large killing machine mecha. After the war finished the Living Weapons were outlawed and a large cleanup operation was undertaken to eliminate all the rogue machines. Rather than see the technology go to waste, every man and his dog started to build mecha fashioned around the living weapon design to use for general everyday use. (Well that's more or less the backstory... if perhaps slightly altered, explaining too much gives it away)
Enter Trava and Shinkai. Ex-military personal who take on any job they can take to earn enough money to enter the Fist Planet. A giant mecha battle royale utilising a team of a mecha, a pilot and a mechanic.

That's the setup.
Produced by the same team which made "World Record" for the Animatrix, you will no doubt recognise the style immediately just from that mention. The animation relies heavily on black, and it just oozes style from every angle. It does some weird crap, ala FLCL, but still manages to retain quite a plausable story and the characters seem to be well defined. The mecha design is a real treat, and forgoes many classic cliche designs and successfully pulls it off.

Each episode is 45min long and so far only 1 episode has aired. The next episode simply cannot come fast enough, and a 3 min preview at the end of ep1 leaves you wanting more.

If it ever gets a Region 1 license, get it. I normally let people make their own decisions on things. But get this. You will not be disappointed.

All I have to say to the Devilman trailer is

    Wow.

I'm not always a fan of these things but it looks to be pretty good. As long as the plot isn't too weak it should be good.

That probably explains it better than I can.... I'll just say this. It's weird anime to say the least.

    edited May 2004
I tried to watch F.L.C.L. one night (Im a begginer Anime watcher).... and it confused the hell out of me!

That and I was drunk beyond belief trying to watch it for the first time, I need to watch it again sober, all I remember is something about a boy with a horn coming out of his head.

edit* Infinitum you should make a beginners guide for people who want to start watching anime, the shows/movies you should see first and whatnot.
