Well that's good to know/ <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
That must add a cool dramatic effect, just when a fleeing group of marines reach a door the commander opens it, then when the aliens comes he closes it giving them seconds to spare: cool
this applies to lifts too. The commander can click on an elevator to bring it up/down. very very handy for those times when your squad of marines are moving down a hall, you can lower the lift for them just in tiem so they don't have to wait those precious few seconds lowering it themselves..
also it can be quite fun to annoy aliens who are trying to get somewhere but some pesky elevator keeps moving on its own ;)
Can you use it to squash aliens who sit under lifts <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->?

So, you have to click the elevator button, you can't just click the elevator? EDIT: or do you mean, the commander can click any entity that can be triggered?
Are there any maps where only a commander can use a certain feature? For instance safety features in a space station that wouldnt have buttons (so that marines dont push the wrong button and get sucked into space). That would be interesting as it would add yet another thing for the commander to do and so marines just couldnt do certain things unless the commander had some spare time. Things like blast doors, furnaces etc could add extra atmosphere to the maps and add to possible tactics. Just a thought.

Really its just better to let the troops on the ground do that sort of thing. The commander is busy enough without making him open doors and whatnot for the players. :P
