If the prognosises of the ongoing chip miniaturization are trustworthy, it's well possible that Gibson had the right idea in Virtual Light - imagine a complete PC in your shades. This could truly revolutionize how we treat and process data - imagine wandering through a park, seeing an interesting flower, and knowing one google-image search later what kind it is. Hell, this could even bring the advent of a generation of *gasp* sun-tanned geeks!

It will only be a slight increase in processor power to make the images 3D, using a set of glasses. You could be able to hook it up to a car, with soe kinda radar scanner in the front of the car, that scans the road ahead for other vehicles, and then displayes them as a red box on your retina, so even at night, you would be able to see them before you get anywhere near them. Coupled with a gps system and a highly detailed road map, you could be driving down a real and a virtual road, with the edges in red, and arrows that point the way to your destination.
holy **** imagine being in a swat team on the 6th floor of a highrise and you see the floorplan "through" the walls, all you have to do is look down and you see exactly what is around the corner.... *wets pants, gets fresh pants*
*wets pants, gets fresh pants*
*wets pants again, decides he isn't wearing pants anymore*
