Why Ns Is Better Than Cs

<div class="IPBDescription">The two patches</div> On the NS board, there is alot of uproar about the beta 4 patch. I am one of the ones who disagrees with the changes and wishes to have them altered/restored.

Now, take a look at the Steam forums. Half of the CS community, specifically the "pros" and "vets" are threatening to stop playing because an exploit was fixed. It's crazy.

I guess most of the losers get weeded out before they have a chance to join the NS community, so we have a MUCH higher ratio of mature people here.

    Changes:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->» AWP & Scout now have a small delay on your ability to fire, zoom, or reload after switching to them from a different weapon or item.

» The crosshairs have been scaled to look the same on all resolutions. They are slightly larger depending on your resolution.

» New headshot icon. You can now see which weapon was used to make the headshot.

» de_nuke is now brighter, the floating box exploit in the ramp room was fixed, and the outside box near window is no longer destructible.

» de_cbble is also brighter, you can no longer climb the vines, and the bomb plant exploit at bombsite B was removed. New T spawn points as well as various other changes and additions.

» Sniper zoom-crosshairs have changed slightly.

» Using nightvision now turns your crosshair bold red.

» Flashbang and Nightvision usage can be seen in spectator mode.

» New rounded VGUI menus on scoreboard, MOTD, team selection etc.

» Solid radar can be toggled on or off with the command cl_radartype (1 or 0).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The big changes people complain about are the AWP/Scout one and the bigger crosshair one.

What concerns me is that all of those changes were covered by one line in the changelog:

    "Various Other Improvements"

When quite clearly the changes have great importance to some people.

It means you can't run with your pistol out, then when you see an enemy, aim, switch and shoot all in a milisecond. THAT was why they added it. People were using the awp like a shotgun. That change doesn't really affect sniping (look at dod); it just keeps the weapon good.

I like ns because it's more of a TEAM win. Cs is all frags. But there are smacktards in both games, and servers with good teamwork in both games. I've played cs games where people tell you where the ts dropped the bomb, how many are headed which way, and all that good stuff.

I gotta say I play different games, depending on my mood, whether I have to do homework, and whether my friends are on (none of them could understand ns hahaha).

people don't know how important those changes were in clan play, it makes things _alot_ different. unlike the money change, this is unwelcomed.

CS = more people, hence more retards

give NS 50,000 people playing each day, and i assure you, you will get as many smacktards as CS. only because it's more popular

not all of us in CS are whinging smacktards.

People were complaining about the GUI. The damn _GUI_. All they did was round some damn corners and it's the end of the world.

I think I must have missed something here. What would happen if all these "pros" and "vets" stopped playing? It's a freaking game! It's almost as if they have an obligation to play it.

i haven't seen a single post on that

the majority of the posts have been about the <i>massive</i> crosshair on high resolutions (1024+), which is unplayable

and of course, the awp zoom delay. which imo was an unneeded change.

Iv seen CS demos of pro clans (CPL and such) and i can see the awp thing being pretty huge amongst clans.

tall the changes in the new cs are ok except for the new crosshairs, they suck so much now

The Steam forums have basically become a bunch of losers whining about how they can't exploit the AWP and use it like a railgun now. I whole-heartedly support the newest Counter-Strike update.

The exploit was the fact that with an AWM/Eagle you could fire the AWM scoped swap to your eagle then back to the AWM and rescope it and fire again, doing away with the reload time the gun would normally have. An easy fix for this was just to ban the AWM on servers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I never understood why people were so mad about the awp. It's as useful to me as a scout (it usually takes me 2 shots to kill with the awp. Shut up! that's not funny!), but adding the delay is logical. At least now people will only awp or use one of the other guns (which are viable headshot machines, and will make sniping totally useless for assaults.)

As for the GUI... My god! It's UGLY. I feel like I'm playing CS for the Xbox. I would use the non-graphical buy menu, but it's slow and they moved the defusal kit (I keep buying nightvision!) since.

Like they say on the forums, thats just a common misconception. The only actual exploit(rather than oversight, which was the instant-zoom+shoot thing) was the fact that you could switch to deagle and be restored to full mobility too fast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked, we were a Natural Selection discussion board.
