Hi,
Just wondering if there is something wrong with Devour? As I have seen multiple times an Onos eating someone above them when there is no way they should of been in range.
Like a few times I have been above an Onos, and I was like WTH, he ate me, and I was like 2-3 Onos Sizes Above him>
Is this a problem ignored at the moment, or its meant to be like that, just very unrealistic.
I have friend that plays onos and says there is something wrong with its devour when you eat things above an Onos, he says he has trouble sometimes eating thing in front of him at a dribbles lenght, than above him at a range that he shouldnt be able to devour.

Devour requires you to have your target at the center of the screen. Search the forums for how to add Devour crosshairs if you can't figure out how to aim it. You will miss a Devour if your aiming with the mouth, instead of the center of the screen.
Oh yes, and that reminds me of marines crouching.. how are you supposed to devour a marine when they crouch? I just.. can't.. do it. *cries* <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I got a nice LMG with new sounds, save the muzzleflash for *everything* got too big (Burst fire no workie when everything's balanced for nonburst.. heh), great marine vox sounds, and plenty of sprite crosshairs.
I got devour, web, leap, blink, and devour sprites; and they're actually REALLY helpful. I mean it helps when I'm fading and see the small concentric circles on my screen. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Good luck finding 'em, though.. Pray for a repost.
As for devouring people on the ground, point the horn at their torso area. It has a suprisingly long range when lag cooperates. Best way to learn to do it is have a friend stand still and devour him a couple times. You'll get used to it really quickly.
That's why lag is even an issue here. It does fix lag, so even if you think you where far away the server will accept hits when your opponent thought you where close.
Lets say I'm lagging like hell and I see you where you where 1 second ago, I run up to you and devour you and the server goes OK he was there 1 second ago, but you can allready be out of the room on your screen.
There is maximum time it will correct lag for me like that and it's somewhere around a second I believe.

You can get the aim sprites from <a href='http://www.nsarmslab.com/flash/home.htm' target='_blank'>NS Armslab</a>
under the custom models section.
This reminds me of a question I was going to ask: what's peoples opinion on using a Devour crosshair? Is this considered "cheating?" I mean, I find Devour very, very difficult without some kind of crosshair. I know people say just get the marine in the center of the screen, but that's a real crapshoot as far as I'm concerned.
What's CAL or any other leagues view on this? I know custom models are usually against the rules, but what about custom crosshairs?
(while you're getting that alien pack, I also highly recommend ZeroBytes leap and xenocide crosshairs. They don't really make things easier, but they do add a much needed visual indicator as to whether you're using bitegun/leap or xeno.)
Either way, once you learn where the thing is, you're just as good at devouring as anyone else, so...
Thanks for the crosshair sprite links. I gotta find an install for co_ether, though; since I couldn't copy any .mdl files to the new install, I lost all the plant models that came with ether.. And ether's one of my fav maps. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
