A pity - I never even finished hitman 2 (and nevr even OWNED the first...).
But yet I've always been a huge fan. I'll give 'er a whirl when I get my computer back u and running <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
i dunno. it was pretty cool. only thing that really turned me off to it was the sniper rifle. i'm big into sniping, and i thought "wow cool! an assassination game! i'm gonna snipe everyone!" then i zoomed in and the stupid scope bounced up and down. if there's one thing i hate most in games, its all the stupid bouncing up and down effect that sniper rifles have. i dont see why they couldn't just let me aim and shoot. the least they could have done was give me a frickin "hold breath" button like in SC:PT. but whatever, i'm rambling....
dl the demo and tell me if it's any good. i'm a 56ker so i'll only dl this thing if everyone likes it.
From the screenies, this looks very promising. I just hope my comp can run it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If not, back to good ol' CS and NS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Downloading!

First hitman, which i completed. Is the most fun, if you grab guns and shoot everyone, you fail basically.

You have to zoom in and don't move the mouse for a few seconds. You'll notice the bouncing gets smaller and eventually it stops. If you move the gun slowly it won't bounce.
I'll have to give this a try!
Probably because people keep saying this is Hitman 3. It isn't. It's a stop-gap to satiate the killer appetites of wannabe hitmen while Hitman 3 is developed.
Don't expect anything particularly innovative. If it's fun, then it's good enough for me.

Word. The previews I read mentioned some nice new aspects, such as a real story line, non-linear story progression, and a few engine enhancements. I was a big fan of Hitman 2's game play, especially the "collect all the weapons in the game" minigame.
As for Hitman 2 being easy to do without stealth, well, yes, most of the levels are. Having played it both ways, I can easily say that it's much more satisfying to be stealthy. Many of the levels have fun nuances that you won't notice if you go in guns-a-blazing. Additionally, you can't get the oh-so-pwnage suppressed hardballers if you play absolutely every level with little regard to stealth (if you really want to know, go read a guide).
Having said that, go out there and buy the game! Support IOI! I want that Hitman movie to come out as soon as possible...
--Edit--
Oh, and the new post filter technology is a huge performance hit. It would make my computer cry if I didn't turn off anti-aliasing, the anisotropic filtering, and run it in 800x600.
So... Unless you have a good computer don't buy the game expecting it to look like one of those screenshots of the game.

Considering that the developers are calling the next game Hitman 4, I think it would be safe to conclude that this is Hitman 3...
What he meant was the fact that a majority of the levels are remakes from the first Hitman.
There are 12 missions in the game... 4 of which are brand new. Yes, 8 of the levels are remakes. ...Eight.
Luckily, I never played the first Hitman, but I feel sorry for the ones that did.
the greatest part of hitman 2 was trying to get your enemies to kill the bodyguards with the m4's on the sniper level (you get the .50)
from what egm says, hitman3 is what happens when:
<span style='color:red'>spoiler, manify to read</span>
<span style='font-size:4pt;line-height:100%'>47 gets shot and recalls his greatest hits</span>

Hitman: Contracts uses pretty much the same engine as Hitman 2. It was never going to be a true sequel.
Edit: After browsing Eidos' forums, it would appear that HM:C is another victim of Eidos' terrible QA testing, just like DX:IW. So much for buying this.
Edit2: Upgrading my drivers from Catalyst 4.3 to Catalyst 4.4 seems to have solved the performance issue. Now if only I could figure out how to turn antialiasing on . . .
All settings on medium, anti-aliasing off, biliniear filtering and 800x600 resolution - runs fine on my P3 533mhz 192-MB RAM PC.
I'm so happy.

Edit: If you haven't played the first 2 Hitman games though, this is basically a refresher course in everything thats happened up till now. So its not a bad investment.
I certainly hope the final release will have more changes from the first version.
Be prepared for a few bugs. There was only one game-breaking bug I've found so far, and it was fixed by reloading the level. There were some issues with certain video cards as well (still are, actually - I still can't turn on anti-aliasing), but most have been fixed in the current patch.
One quick note - this game is best if you played and liked Hitman 2, but never bothered to play the original. Many of the levels in Contracts are recreations of those found in Hitman: Codename 47, albeit with a much better engine and cooler guns. As such, if you have played the original, there is the chance you will feel ripped off. I never did, so I love this game to pieces.
