I know this statement is unqualified, but if this is what people call Cyberwar, I don't mind it going on.

    I'm curious about your choice of words.  Feel free to expound.

    I'm curious if whoever did this used all of their abilities in this attack (and yes it was an attack) or if this was only a test.

    If they used everything they had, then they got the big FU from the root server support.

    If it was only a test, I hope we take a few more stringent measures for prevention.

    Well, up till now, whenever I read about attacks on the Roots, I got the impression the writer believed an attack on them would result in a digital armageddon of some sorts, you know; a webwide gridlock, billions of economical damage - that sort of things.

    It's just nice to see that the net apparently can take a bigger punch than some suggested.


    Discussing the motives of the hacker(s) behind the attack at this point is futile - it may be that some kind of orginization is to blame, but just as well that a single very good hacker tried to immortalize himself.
