I know there are a bunch of you sword types in here, so I gotta ask. Ive got an old Cavalry sabre, my great-great-great grandfather's, used in Boer War. Got a normal iron blade, good condition, with a crude carving of a running fox near the hilt. The hilt itself is slightly ornate, made from brass. On the top it has 13/8 on it. Im thinking these are hand size measurments or somesuch. Also, it says Brighton-Engleby under the numbers. The grip is spiraled and the handgaurd is five strips of curling brass as opposed to a solid gaurd. Any ideas to origin, manufaturer or meaning of the numbers?
