Other then Zonealarm
I have had some bad experiences with zonealarm, mainly with the cookie/popup stopper that bogs down IE (I do use IE on occasion) Even if disabled its still quite slow

Does anyone know of a good (And Hopefully free) firewall that doesnt try and do all this crap I dont need?

If im not mistaken zonealarm the free version has neither of these functions, all it does is allow programs to access the net and block incoming traffic to ports thats about it.

It must be the higher up versions with the popup/cookie blocker.

But since you asked for an alternative heres one

    http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html

Its free but limited like zonealarm.

you can try Tiny Personal Firewall. Its exactly what it sounds like. If you want a free version, youll have to dig up a 2.X.XX version (ie, I use 2.0.15b).

In fact zonealarm free does have the cookie blocking feature... which is rendered useless because IE6 already does that.

I tried out Tiny Personal Firewall, seems to be working fine thanks

I tried a bunch of them before settling on Sygate PF. I like it a lot. User friendly yet has a lot of advanced features.

Yeah I'd be comfortable trusting IE with the security of my computer :/

    2wire hardware firewall, winXP icf, nub-download-killer 2.0

(i used to use sygate, but the 2wire hardware firewall kinda made it useless)
