Starship Troopers map
Hey guys, I just got a lot of the Starship Troopers skins for this mod, and now I think we need a Starship Troopers map. I have made a few maps for Half-Life in during the years the game has been around (since the beginning). I know about balance and things like that, but this could become a very balanced map....
Map Name: ns/co OutpostSiege
/* Named after the Roughnecks defense outpost that they were fighting off hundreds of those bugs. This will be one of the firsts outside maps for NS */
Marines: Start off in a dropship in the middle of the outpost (where Carmen and Alexander landed theirs at). The command center is in the communications room (or somewhere up to the discrection of the mapper). There is a place in the bottom of the lunch room that the aliens can chop into to get a hold inside the command station. There are defensive walls and buildings around (just like in the movie), and the Marines can use them to their advantage, along with a draw-bridge type part of the wall to open and close (make the small aliens come around to let the onos's in . (Other note: for the primary start, you could have the marines in the air inside their dropship, and then have them fly around till landing (all scripted of course)).
Aliens: Start of in a cave somewhere up to the discretion of the map maker. They go around the caves, and eventually go outside for the real fun (or head through tight spaces to find the other cave entrance into the marines lunch room (which could double up as another hive). When they head outside, it won't be totally hard for the skulks and other aliens. Plenty of rock cover should be available, as well as cloaking. But if they march up the center, well they might not be able to live very long. Lerks will provide the nasty air cover (since it is an outdoor map) they can swoop down from high places and chomp at the marines. Eventually, Onos's (with the capturing of the hives) will be available as the "tanker bugs" if you will (if you have the skins), and can either be let in by the draw bridge, or crash through a side in the defensive wall, like in the movie.
This seems like it would make for some exciting battles, as well as being extremely balanced. A truely unique map for it's outside battles where either side doesn't have it to easy to play. Resources can be scattered around, both in the outside caves, buildings, and even planted in the grounds at different locations. If someone were to develope this map, and did a good job, I don't see how they wouldn't include it in the next NS release after it's finished.

And a few ideas about a starship troopers map. Maybe inside one of the buildings could be a bridge control computer that aliens could chomp up and drop the bridge permanently (or until marines could weld it back up, which should take like 2 minutes--long enough for a few onos to get in and wreak things). Maybe a non-repairable thing like a massive chain or two right inside the door would be better. Im sure the walls could all be made so they could be destructable by giving them glass properties.
*memories of an all-too-large map full of diamond-strength glass come to mind*
And since im already giving all my ideas... Ready rooms can be really cool. ns_cydonia or something had music and lights that you could turn on and off. I want to see a ready room that lets people inside affect gameplay. Obviously you cant do this in a serious map, but it would be great for a "fun map." There could be 5-minute reuse buttons that fill certain rooms full of water for 5 seconds or something. *cackle* Maybe a button that shakes a random room, moving structures (except for res collectors).
