Mapping idea

Hi there, im by no means a mapper of any form, but i read a post somewhere with a PT quote: 'There coming out the fu%$ing walls man!' and that gave me an idea.

is it possible to make this sort of happen?
like say uve got vents that have an opening at a wall - is it possible to make that opening look like its just wall from the outside... like how u cant see thru grass and stuff but shoot/move thru it in games like BF1942?

Sorry if it doesnt make sense im having a hard time saying what i actually mean.

    yeah its perfectly possible, but it wouldnt be very realistic if aliens just started coming strait out of the walls..
    i think the weldable stuff works a bit like this, you cant see through it but you can move through it,
    until it gets welded that is

    Decepticon, very very possible - but it would be a little unfair to the marines to have to watch every wall just in case an alien pops out of what looks like ...well...a wall..

    It would be quite interesting and exciting to play but overall I think it would just annoy the crap out of the marine players.. that's not to say you can't disguise openings - but I think solid looking walls should remain just that - solid...

    One thing I would like to see is infestation covering hallways.  This would either be walk-throug-able (i.e. just a visual obstruction) or weldable.  The key is that it would be partially transparent, so you could see that there's a hallway beyond.

    Reference:  Forget About Freeman in HLSP - there is a hallway that is "gummed up" with a series of webs or something, which can be shot apart.

    Yea, i sort of thought that it was unrealistic too after i posted, yet as u said, it could just be say somewhat camoflaged with infestation etc -

    perhaps have several 'openings' with the same/similar infestation on the ends of em, but not all of em are connected to the tunnel/vent system, some are just dead ends -

    the suprise factor would wear off once people learn the map, but i think it would scare the crap out of the marines allot of the time, and being scared is fun.

    Note: im almost religeously a 'rine player - back in gloom days they were always my prefered side, but of course, now and then id play as an Alien.  

    Anyway, props to the team and all the other mappers, u guys have done an absolutely, outstanding job on this mod, cant wait to play.
