Help Me
<div class="IPBDescription">In my conquest to be 'back to myself'</div> OK, here's the lowdown on what has happened to me in the last 4 years:
During my primes, I had a tremendously high metabolism rate, meaning even the biggest meals wouldn't make my stomach buldge. I had never payed attention to this. Ever.
Until 4 years ago.
At that time, my metabolism rate dropped like a rock from the 50th floor. Soon afterwards, I grew a big belly and lost some of 'myself'. I had never noticed this until last year.
The previous year, I worked hard to try and get rid of the offending belly (more like protruding) but nonetheless, it still remains until this very day.
So what am I asking?
I am asking for help as to how to :
- Get back that metabolism rate I had a long time ago
- Lose this big belly, that has slowed me down
- Get healthier overall while doing the 2 of the above at the same time
BTW, if you want to know that other side of me, it would be a sneaky silent fellow that you won't be able to hear breathing, or notice coming before I manage to smack the back of your ear with my finger <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Can't remember the exact numbers but if you cut your daily intake down to about 1800-1500 calories a day you should start losing weight regardless of how little excercise you do (though that's no excuse to avoid keeping in shape). I know the average female burn per day is 1500 and the male one is lots higher.
Few other things that help is to drink a LOT of cold water... your body burns calories just trying to heat the stuff up and it helps hydrate your system which helps so many things I'm not even gonna start listing them ^^
Just don't drink too much... you'll know when you've gone too far when you start feeling sick (your body's natural reaction to having too much liquids is to vomit the excess back up ^^; )
Excercise helps burn but remember, if you equal or go over what you manage to use up in calories you'll just end up putting on weight anyways, so don't overdo it and keep an eye on your diet =D
When you eat is important too, keep your heavier meals towards the start of the day and lighten up towards the end, ideally you shouldn't really be eating anything after 8pm because it'll just lie in your tummy while your body winds down instead of being used up properly, it's not a hard and fast rule but if you manage to follow that about 5 days out of 7 in a week then you'll find your weight dropping somewhat too <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
There's lots more but that's all I can remember for now
Somehow I remembered doing that in the past. But I didn't know that affected it. Ah well, I thank god there's a huge supply of really cold mineral water.
And when I say cold, I mean ice cold.
Now here's a question, will just generally having a small breakfast, medium lunch and no dinner help me out a bit? I've been doing this for a while but yet I haven't lost much (paired with exercise)
BTW, I am still in rather good health. I just get a small breakfast because I usually end up rushing for being almost late for school.
No point in skipping dinner though, the 3 meals a day thingy is pretty important. Breakfast is especially crucial as that's the meal that'll give you the base 'fuel' you'll be running off for the rest of the day.
If you're gonna munch on a snack try and make it something with nuts in it as those help make you feel full (along with some other stuff I've blatantly forgotten; protein based foods like meat help I suppose,) meaning you're less likely to stuff your face XD
As for the water, the colder the better =3
<b>edit:</b> almost forgot, not sure how true this is but when you're in the shower give yourself a quick blast of it at it's coldest setting. Supposedly it gives your body a bit of a jump start and helps strengthen the heart and wake you up a bit <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't know how true it is but it makes me start the morning on a high note as I end up giggling at the funny noises I make when the water goes from nice and warm to ice-water.

All Things In Moderation.
So, eat medium (aka normal )sized meals, 3 times a day.
Get your fruits and veggies.
and WORKOUT!
Don't bother trying to get back your metabolism, instead just live with the one you have <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
oh, and gem, nuts are actualy a fairly bad snack (LOTS of fat, thats why you feel full... empty calories)
yah, just don't forget the exorcise.
Things as simple as doing situps, crunches, pushup etc will work <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
good luck
~pokes than~
balanced is good but if you're gonna have your diet lop-sided it's better to have it towards the earlier part of the day when your body is burning it's most ^^
And all the cereal/tracker/whatever bars I eat now and then don't do my figure any harm so nyeah to you <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Besides, that's part of how the atkins diet works; the fact it puts you more towards protein heavy things like meat means you end up eating less because it makes you feel full more. fruit is an important part of your diet as is veg but they're not very filling so you just end up eating lots and lots of it.
Essentially your red blood cells swell up due to the fact it has less water potential than water. Distilled water having the highest water potential.
And soon afterwards, your red blood cells burst due to filling up too much. Try think think of it like blowing in too much air into a balloon.
EDIT : I forgot to mention that I might have an experiment with mixing distilled water and RBCs. <3 Biology lessons.

And on the subject of exercise, I have a couple of exercises that I had skipped back due to this well....'belly problem' but I guess I have to do them anyway. In case you don't know, it's a bit of stuff from the ninjutsu course videos I watched before <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And yes I forgot the damn URLs, and I doubt those sites are up anymore so don't bother trying. You'll get 404s
I don't know how true it is but it makes me start the morning on a high note as I end up giggling at the funny noises I make when the water goes from nice and warm to ice-water. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
yeah, don't do that if you're weak of heart because you can have a heart attack <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
One of the other reasons why (and the main reason for most people) the atkins diet works is you just cut out most poeples largest source of calories (carbs).
If you simply replaces ALL of those carbs with protien/fat your not gona loose weight.
However, most people don't.
As I said, Buddah Diet! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And yah, breakfast is good to have as your largest meal
hehe, you should see me when I eat breakfast <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> my family eats cereal out of mixing bowls.....
Then again, most of my family is stupidly athletic (my dad swims, bikes, runs, and periodicly works out on exercise machines, my mom works out, my bro is a mountain biker, and I am a fat lasy slob <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
Seriously. He goes to the gym up to 4x a day. And he runs when he wakes up (for about 30-50 minutes). And he eats healthy/smart. And he exercises.
Eating healthy doesn't mean eating very little. I'm not him so I don't have the specifics, but you have to spend about 1-4 hours a day exercising if you want to be as crazy as him (exercising meaning Tennis, running, lifting, etc.)
[edit] oh yeah, it worked. He's almost as thin as a rail (a healthy rail, not supermodel rail), but strong as a moose [/edit]
