the game itself (last time I was able to get online) sorta sucked. However, most of that was the fact that it had 0 polish on it (I hope).
However, the skill system is VERY cool.
I can give you a basic concept (as it is actualy discussedi n other places, and the NDA is probably gone anyway).
Basicaly, there are no 'levels'. There are skill group levels (up these by ussing skills in said group), each time it ups, you get 10 Skill Points (SPs).
You then spend these SPs on skills.
Each skill is made up of "Blocks"
Blocks are Effects and Costs.
Example Effects:
Fire Dmg 10
Heal other 10
Heal Self 10
Craft Zorai Armour
Increase attack rate.
increase spell area
increase spell duration
etc.
Costs are simple:
-5 HPs, Stamina, Focus (ussed for craft skills), sap (mana)
-2 range
etc.
Now, each block is worth a certain # of points, and you just have to balance out those points.
You can mix an match blocks anywhere inside a skill tree (so you can't use magic blocks and fighting blocks)
One of my spells that I used alot I called 'lay on hands'
I combined a heal other block with a range decrement block. The it cost me 0 sap, however I literaly had to touch the person (not to simple to do in combat, mainly ussed out side for quick recharges).

The 'block' system always sounded interesting as it meant you could customise your skills but I could never get into it enough to really try it out. Who knows, I might give it another bash come open beta when there's more people about =3
