I Just Couldn't Do It!

Sorry DooMy
I had the money, I walked into the shop, I asked for the Cube and MGS:TS..

But they had no TS. Or RE. Or RE:0.

Undeterred I said I'd be back.

I was.

It still wasn't there. So I browsed the GC games section... and couldn't find anything that would hold my attention. S'ok, I thought, I'll have the 3 sweet games to play. The it hit me that I've not touched an RE game in many months, I've already beaten MGS, and that I'd spend a weekend playing all the games nonstop and just end up PO'ed and annoyed for buying a pricey console that I would in all likelihood never play again.

Even the controller irks me.

But I love MGS and RE!!

So I don't understand what's wrong. In the end I couldn't even buy a PC or PS2 game - I had to settle for over 100 pounds of DVDs. Whats wrong with me folks?

I've put more hours into playing and replaying Metroid Prime, Prince of Persia, and Wind Waker than I've put into any 10 DVDs I own.

I sold my Gamecube long ago for the same reasons, but slightly different. See, while I had GC, the only "ok" games were RE, and that was good. Not great, but good. But otherwise, for all the other games(Metroid Prime, Windwaker, you name it), I couldn't stand. Too many things wrong with each for me to ever have much fun. MGS:TTS probably is good too, but alas I sold mine beforehand.

Games that i own for gamecube and/or are "brand new" in terms of "stuff" IE: Not remakes; heavilly altered gameplay; better [Insert AI; Graphics; Gameplay; Ballance; Maps; etc... boost here].

Certainly they are all good games, but some things have been reused; too slight of a feeling of "been there - done that". And yes, even a "slight" feeling of deja-vu can alter a game experiance.

How many times has [monster] popped up from the usual [area]?
How many [monster] have i killed?
How many times have i entered [insert mode here IE: "bullet-time"]?
Why did i buy this game again?

the only reason you go to a store is to get a quick fix..

www.amazon.com is where you get everything else.

doesn't everyone know that by now? :o

    I have two consoles.

The X-Box and Gamecube. If anything goes on multi-console release I get it for my X-Box. If anything goes on Gamecube exclusive I get it for the GC (duh!)

    Etc

Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin, Mario Sunshine, MGS:TS, Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros. Melee, F-Zero GX, Mario Kart : DD. I know they have already been listed, but how can you say the GC has no good games? It has the best games of all imo and with a lot more to come with Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 2, Viewtiful Joe 2 and Wind Waker 2 what seems to be the problem? Ah yes Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 were just so fun.

Every single game I've purchased over the last 3 years or so I've ordered online, most of which from EBGames. $5 off for my GameSpot Complete membership doesn't hurt either.

Retail stores don't stock very well, which forces you to buy online, which makes stocking worse, which... yeah. Down the hole right there.

Between SB:Melee and Mario Kart:DD, you'll have enough 4-player action to keep you occupied for a long time. Party games, woohoo!

Beyond Good and Evil - best control scheme on the GameCube, best looks on the X-Box.

I already am getting the X-Box version without even getting an X-Box yet. The game is that good!

I hate Mario Sunshine tho, and although I do like the old NES Zelda games, I just don't have time to wade through one these days.

Viewtiful Joe doesn't do it for me either.

Granted Metroid Prime rocks.... but its a FPS.. and without online MP I find FPS games boring (for this I blame NS... I mean who wants to play the computer when you can hammer half a dozen server monkeys and laugh like a madman on teamsay???).

I don't think its just the Cube, as the store has an excellent range of games all round... its just games in general - I'm sick of single player, its all the same things over and over.

That and that hideous gamepad, holy hell, I thought the N64 one was unwieldy enough, boy was I fooled.

Metroid prime is more of a First Person Adventure game than anything, calling it an FPS is somewhat misleading =/

As for controllers, different people different tastes I guess; the N64 had the most comfortable controller I've ever had in my lil hands, the GC one isn't too bad either ^^

Edit: I'm pretty bored of the usual crop of games these days myself, but if you're really bothered about it you should try getting into modding. Failing that try weird but wonderful titles such as Harvest Moon, Megaman Battle Network Series (1-4 all the gameboy advance and unlike any game you've probably played) and... well I'm sure there's more =P

I'm more than happy with my Gamecube. Quality games for it are rare, but I'd never have the money to spend on more regular top titles.

SSX 3, Twin Snakes, RE 1 and Zero, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros and the sheer brilliance of Rocky have kept me entertained for many hours.

I also have Wind Waker, and while enjoyable and full of eye candy, I still haven't clocked it due to the sailing boring me to tears.

Call me misguided if you will, but I work at a retail game store and I've been eyeing the Gamecube shelves with envy every day. Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Twin Snakes, everything else everyone has mentioned earlier, all of them made me decide to buy a Cube with my next paycheck. Of course, the 20% employee discount meaning that a used Cube is a mere 65-some dollars helped. Gamecube fo life!

Harvest Moon roxxorz my boxorz, I have it on my PS2 (the PS1 version of course, Back to Nature) and also the old SNES version on my PC. Cough cough.

I would play it an awful lot, but I dunno.... modding is just frustrating for me atm because I'm struggling, but we're sorting that out in our little forum. Only thing really griefing me is the samey gameplay that I get with non-online play.

Roll on MGS3 - New scenery, new gimmicks, never boring.

Oh, and I'll be ok by the end of the month - Hitman Contracts will see me through, hehe.
