<div class="IPBDescription">Can anyone please give me a reason.</div> Ok I know its kind of obvious that swear filters are there to make a discussion board clean and all.
But how do u put a valid reason on enforcing a swear filter when someone puts up all that freedom of speech stuff?
I am jsut trying to figure out what would be a good argument on this topic here

I was thinking if you put it in real life, if you were speaking your mind in a meeting, would you be swearing away etc.

Back that up with something akin to "Its as if you are walking into someone's house and claiming that you can say anything you want because you have the freedom to do so."
Most internet forums include a Terms of Usage agreement on which you must click "I agree" before you can register to post. Ours is this: <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums.html' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums.html</a> . Forums are a privately owned entity, and can enforce rules as they see fit. As all of our users agreed to our no-swearing policy, they have no grounds to legally question it.
Looking at the post you linked, it does seem that an overly zealous swear filter goes against the spirit of the organization for which the board exists (at least according to the first poster). Hell (uncensored), not even *these* boards censor the word "balls." <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
however, swearing IS NOT A GOOD FORM OF EXPRESION!
especialy if you are having a discusion/debate.
As soon as one side starts swearing it is nolonger rational speach, it is now emotional speach.
As for why it is so here?
well, we are a pg 13 comunity <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (leaning more to pg then the 13 aspect generaly)
Ok maybe Hell was a bad word to censor. It was late and I had to put up those filters b4 thing started getting out of hand.
Or a date. Unless you're in the middle of the wanky-wanky, don't swear on a date. :\
<s>On the other hand, why does this board censor the word damn .... er... d a m n?</s> Ok, bizarre, it censored that earlier today.......
but I KNOW atleaset one form of leet was turned into leet, it was one of these:
1337
l337
l33t
that and bob ofcourse used to be cencored <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
