<div class="IPBDescription">looks neat</div>IGN has a new <a href='http://pc.ign.com/articles/505/505274p1.html' target='_blank'>preview</a> up of that <a href='http://www.callofcthulhu.com/index.html' target='_blank'>Call of Cthulhu</a> game coming out in the September or so. Looks neat. Looks like finally there will be a good horror game, besides Alone In The Dark and System Shock.
(Haven't played Silent Hill so I can't comment on it, but RE is crap)
Only thing is since it takes place in the first person perspective people are going to label it a first person shooter and then get **** off when there's low ammo and not shooting something every 5 seconds...

Some of the screenshots sort of look like the horror game 'Alice' and a little like Eternal Darkness on the GameCube. The rest of it looks promising and it's made in the UK by Headfirst Productions (the same people who brought us Deadlands on the PC, although you probably haven't heard of it.) I highly doubt it will come close to System Shock, but I will be looking foward to E3 to see some video clips of the game in action.
Uh oh! I can hear him coming now..
Basically, he wrote some very good very scary stories, and people like his characters. I haven't read any books so I don't really know more than that myself.
But a lot of game devs are big Lovecraft fans, because there are references to his work in dozens of games. For example, the end boss of Quake was an Elder God from the Cthulhu mythos...
And yes that is legal as the copyrights are up in the air.

Shub Niggurath wasn't an Elder God.... if I remember right and that was the final boss.... anyways...
1) It has Sailors
2) It's from Bethesda Softworks
I am <b>definately</b> buying this one.

You rang?
Actually he's not, finish the game beating all three Gods and you get a little revelation about him.
I've always liked H.P Lovecraft and the pen and paper system. THAT had a true sanity system, unlike Eternal Darkness which had a sanity system for pansies. Give me PERMANENTLY going insane upon seeing something like Manturok any day, over an system where you can easily regain sanity so it becomes just a mere annoyance. Grrrr and stuff.
I've been GMing it for about 5-6 years now. Best gameplay moments ever as well, like tying up an insane party member with C4 and letting them loose in the cultists building. Good times.
Now I want to write another campaign for it sigh.
Kill.switch looks good.
The demo was fun. The game's simple but hard at the same time.
No multiplayer but when the games released (i dunno when that is) it's supposed to be £10....
It's a good demo, but if the whole game relies on that it'll get old fast.
I'm agreeing with that as well Nem. I am however still curious to see how eerie and odd things still come out to be. Also I want to see if it can be modeled anyways. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But I digress.
The only thing that makes me wonder about this game is whether or not it will follow the traditional "Call of Cthulhu" Pen and Paper RPG playing style, where even basic creatures like zombies can ages to down.
