Aliens Turrets = Awesome, Marines =....

Terrible. The marines have to destroy every single turret as they go (which can take a minute sometimes), and the aliens can just run around the Marine turrets and kill everyone without the turrets even touching them (maybe barely). They seem to be just burst firing. I think that it would be great if it was more balanced. The Aliens can place their turrets everywhere (which actually does something), and the Marines have to place it in a certain spot, and it doesn't do anything at all to enemy's health. It needs to be fixed IMO! Balance it out please (I've been playing since this game came out....great game with some more balance!)

lol?
People generaly just run past OCs and get medspammed on the other side (OCs have a hard time killing anytihng by them selfs).
Where as rine turrets can make entrance into an area nearly imposible for any lower level life form.
Also OCs are simple to remove once higer weapons are in place (GL or shotty).
So next time you run into some alien OCs, just run past with out a SINGLE shot (many gorges still use them for early warning: "Oh look, marines are over there")

Clearly the game you've been playing since it came out is not Natural Selection.
As for some of the things on turrets, some of what is said here is incorrect. Both alien and marine turrets are hitscan. Alien turrets will fire a model at the player, but they are still hitscan (rember the lerk spikes in 1.x?). Even though both turrets are hitscan they can both still miss. Jumping up and down as a marine or alien will let you avoid the turret fire. I'm also unsure, but I believe that both turrets fire at about the same rate and do 20 base damage.
Most of the "Replies" aren't even related to the topic, just some snotty comment designed to shun.
Marine turrets DO get really weak against higher lifeforms, whereas offense chambers will damage an LM the same way throughout the game.
To compare the higher alien lifeforms with marine upgrades like HA would be wrong, as well (so don't try to use that argument). HA is far less common than the fades, onos, etc.
Turrets fire slightly faster and do 10.
Turrets will always hit as long as it is within LoS, while you can dodge OCs. Plus turret range is about double.
I mean...turrets, even if I am a lerk and fly through there, I always get hit.
Skulks, even leaping I get hit. They never miss.
Its not the influx of NEWBS thats bad, its the influx of players who don't actually play then post

Alien turrets are really weak against a good marine team, even those with light machine guns. One or two LMG marines with ammo/med support can take down a barrier of a few OCs in the beginning of the game. Marines have ranged attacks, the tracking of OCs is pretty bad, and LMs are easy to heal, so it's not a big problem.
The equivelant of higher alien lifeforms is a light marine with bigger guns. The time it takes to put up an advanced armory is the same time it takes to put a hive up. Grenade launchers can take down offense chamber walls much faster than an onos could take down a turret farm. Even without an advanced armory, you have shotguns, which can reduce OCs to pulp quickly. Plus there's hand grenades now.
Overall, marine turrets have an advantage over alien offense chambers. A turret farm is easier to put up than an OC wall, mostly due to the marine's centralized resource pool. OCs are more for early warning, stripping armor, or slight delay of marines more than stopping them like a turret farm can stop skulks. I don't really like either turrets or OCs, though. The res can usually (not always) be spent better on something else.
1: Locate said OC
2: Find and area close to the OC but completely hides you from it, meaning it can't fire
3: With your weapon drawn, slowly move out of cover untill you can just see the bottom side edge of the OC (those spiky things sticking up on either side.)
4: Open fire on it until it dies, repeat until you have no more OCs to worry about
Note: if when coming out of cover the OC begins to fire, that means you are to far out and risk loosing health, move back into cover and try again.
anyway, i feel this thread is stupid, and should be locked. Original post was ill thought out, and reactions have been less than forgiving.

umm... no
just becasue he joined the forum late, it doesn't make him a newbie. i've been playing this game for a long **** time but i only joined the forum just recently.
What you just said constitutes my entire list of, "the most l337 things people have ever said." Congradulations on making yourself seem like a complete moron. If I were you I'd be embarassed, and edit it out. Please do because you sound like an uncouth barbarian.
In any case, I think OCs are fairly well balanced for their particular purpose, and serve as an effective tool if used occasionally.
While what you say may be correct, the way you said it seriously reeked of elitism and just plain bad manners. Yes, not everyone may be as knowledgeable as you are, but you don't have to be mean about it.
Please everyone build turrets in base they will help you out alot!
Think about it. From a neutral observer's viewpoint, you're telling others that they can't disagree with you or they're idiots (more or less) Seems pretty bad manners to me.
