Watery maps?

How are they gonna be handled?
This is all academic at this point, but what if I got around to making a map that involved a significant amount of water? IE, enough that you could be submerged at some point. Now I don't know how the code works, so I'm not sure if this is even possible, but what would people's reaction be? Cause I think I've got a decent idea for a map, but I'm not sure what mod to make it for. In any case, I'll probably wait till NS is out before I start, just so I have a feel of what other NS maps are like.

I like it. Both Greedo386 and Freesyler-Nemesis' maps had large flooded portions that were really fun to play around it. It added big layers of strategy too, as ambushes could now come from almost any direction. I say go for it.

Water in maps sounds like a really good idea but you got to make it so that water isn't a linking to like hive to marine, just simple parts and such, because the aliens will swim faster then humans, or so i've heard.

The maybe most interesting thing about big flooded areas is the fact that it may be used as aliens-only-way:
The aliens, which are generaly much faster than the marines, may swim through bigger parts without of drowning, which makes flooded corridors an interesting alternative to the all too well known vents.
That submerged areas tend to look absolutely great is a welcome side effect

i like the idea, but i strongly suggest that no more than half of the map has water in it. it just gets boring over time, if you know what i mean. on the other hand, a map without any water would also have a similar effect.

I'm definitely in favor of the underwater passageways. You just have to make sure that it blends coherently with the rest of your map. What MonsE was taking about in my map was just, well, it was a map of many parts that didn't fit together to make a whole.
