The beta team is amazingly loyal

<div class="IPBDescription">Well, they are...</div>I thought for sure there was going to be leak at some point of this mod by a member of the beta testing team, especially after such a loooooong wait. I wouldn't have leaked it myself because I'd want to keep it to as few people as possible. But if anyone remembers Bid For Power for Q3, that had leaks out the wazoo. Man Wazoo is a fun word... Not that I spent a lot of time looking for a NS leak, I mean. I'm sure that atleast 1 other person out there tried typing NS into a search on Kazaa to see if anything would come up. But oh well, great job choosing your beta testers.

Well, I think all the testers respect Flayra and Co enough not to do something like this.

Not quite Jedi, there is a certain thing called Trojan. The software basically uses your computers power to do stuff for other people. This software ships with Kazaa, but not Kazaalite.

I think Flayra knows all the playtesters very good so they were not taken out blindlessly like in some other games/mods.

well unlike every other leaked mod, flay doesnt give the server.dll to ANYONE who doesnt need it, so theres only 3 or 4 server ops who have it and without u cant even play a lan game.

PLaytesters were very carefully choosen.  Only people who had proved themselves to be respectable, turstworthy peopler both on the forums and IRC got PT status...
  • JedisarJedisar Join Date: 2002-03-03 Member: 264Awaiting Authorization
I'm sure they had another one or two qualities, Free, as there are a lot of respectable and trustworthy people on these forums, as well.

Level designers were also given access to server .dlls to facilitate testing their own maps.

Make sure you turn off KaZaA Lite when you play as well. People downloading from you will slow you down even with KLite.

You also will need to get <a href="http://www.lavasoftusa.com/" target="_blank">Ad-Aware</a>, to make sure all the bad stuff is gone from your system.

I've been using Kazaa and I have had any problems with it. Everything has been fine for me. Only complaint is the new participation system. So if you don't participate and let others download you can't download as much. Which is a good theory in concept but it's a bit communistic. I let people download from me but, then it didn't matter what you ratio of downloading to letting download was. Oh and those ads only install if you click yes to installing them.

Eh?  Since when was this thread about Kazaa?

Can we at least try to stay on topic?

We're mostly loyal because MonsE is one of those scary military types, and he'd hurt us.  Yeah.

I mean, um... We love Flayra, and we wouldn't even think of leaking!  We're perfectly happy and well-adjusted, and there is no coersion, threatening, or blackmail, ever!!

Heh, i still don't understand why people leak games, why do you WANT to play an unfinished product?  There is no fun in that, at all.

Um.... The playtestesters have fun playing the "unfinished product", why can't we?

It wouldn't be <b>that</b> buggy by now.

Trust me, playtesting is often *very* frustrating because of the bugs.  We play because we know that we're helping to make the game better, so that the bugs will eventually be gone.  But there have been a few games where I quit out in frustration because of some bug or another.

OH COME ON! How can you say that when there's a <b>THOUSAND POST THREAD</b> named <i>"Tales from the frontlines"</i> stickied on the front page in which you and all the other PT's write about how much fun you've had?

Sometimes what we say is not ALWAYS exactly what happened. It wouldn't look very good if we posted stories about how we got stuck in the floor, or how one team couldn't build any structures now would it?

Trust me, compared to what we play to the final product, it would be awfully unfun, and that's what i'm trying to say.  Final products are so much better.
