<div class="IPBDescription">ns_orion</div> Ok, After alot of struggeling I have finnaly come to a near completition of this ns_map.
Its not 100% I still have som r´s to waste and some tweaks to do. Right now Im looking for a server to test it on.Anyways I have to thank those ppl:

The layout was formally made by Driftwood- But me and T- have made some major changes.to it. Anyways remeber not complete but here are some pics:

    Here is the overview, the hive down to teh right has a RT i just forgot to paint it in PAINT =)

    This is a preet old screen, i have some vents to the right and stuff.

    I like the triangular light strips. The lighting in general looks decent, although it is a little on the dark side. It makes things look really grey, which is a really great mood if you wanted it like that. The skylights are neat, and that planet is beautiful. Some areas might look better with more lighting contrast, but such would be very difficult to pull off without harming the grey feeling your map has. I'd give it a shot though... see what you can do. You have lots of contrast in some other places and the effect remains, so there's hope there.

    One problem I have though, is that your walls look like eclipse and veil. The floor grating too... and, well, the pipes. And the green lights on the walls. Everything seems taken straight out from thta other space station... which makes your map lose points. This could be fixed, I think, by a simple global texture change... nothing drastic, just take the wall_lab texture (I think that's its name) and run it through a color filter in photoshop or other image editor of your choice. I would reccomend either a blue tint, or a grey tint to go along with the feeling your lights convey.

    Layoutwise-- The two lower hives seem better connected than the upper hive. It seems to me that this would make those two hives more valuble to either team than the northern hive, since from either of the lower hives, the other lower hive is easily accessable, whereas the upper hive is out in the middle of nowehre. Yes, you have vents adding extra conneectivity, but still... I'm a -little- uncomfortable with it. Playtesting would, of course, show whether I'm right or wrong in this matter.

    Thanks for the ideas Fieari, I will make a wad tomorrow and check out different schemes. That Hive I know what you mean, but somehow it feels right anyways, Ill wait and see after playtesting

    Im glad this is unfinished since it looks like a good map just spotted quite a few things that need a lil tweaking.

    For starters the walls look a lil boring in a few pics flat with next to no detail
    not to mention ive spotted a few textures that need a lil alignment.

    Also i agree with fieari that the pink wall_lab textures have been slightly over used and are not getting any more original. Changing the colour of it would be a bonus in originality.

    Other than that the map looks good it is not to dark for the aliens or to bright for the marines keep up the work i hope to see it when its completed.

    As people have said it is similar to eclipse and veil. This is going to be a really difficult look to get away from since these are THE ns wall textures. I like your map...and if it plays well i dont think anyone will mind. However i think mappers do need to work on making their own style.

    Nice layout, I little too bright for my tastes, needs to pump up the creepiness factor a bit.

    Also one small comment The Hive shown in the screenshot has a spelling error I think it was meant to say Airconditioning

    I have been working a little bit more on teh map, Me and T- are fixing some things, mostly tweaks and came up with good ideas where to add another room, (its needed)
    anyways changed the textureset, and fixed some lightning the r_speeds are somwhere around 4-500 and The map runs pretty good with ppl, but there is still things to add.

    The vents should be retextured and moved, so they cant be reached by marines.

    hmm, Some of the brushwork is outstanding, but it looks sloppy in some areas. In some of the pics there are ramps up to elevated areas and they dont look so hott, look kinda wierd actually. The lighting it really bright, and is missing ambience and shadowing. Other than that you got an NS map here. I would suggest really going over the lighting, fool around with it, get some shadows and just play around with it till you get a desired effect. Trust me Lighting.. is everything.

    Yea CJ Lightning has alwaays been my badside of teh mapping, Im going to get the map layout ready first, then copy somethign like 1000 rmfs, and spread on cds and on the net =) (u never know) and then im going to play with lightning, test out some new textures etc, The ramps yea i know, some othr ppl complained about that too. Im going to Put a elev on soem place, and change out some ramps and put in steps instead, <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Lookin very good tailgunner. I like the type of style you are going for.

    Like crackerjack said the ramp does look a bit out of place. Maybe try some stairs or a lift? Or maybe add some trim or rail on the right side?

    The lay-out seems nice, althought I haven't tested your map. It's complicated enough. The design overall seems very interesting and you have nice ideas. Haven't seen RT nozzle placed on water like that before.

    <b>Negative:</b>
    Althought the design is good the map misses something.. Add more details. Textures are very nice now.     The map looks great , but I saw alot of FPS drops from your screen shots. In some rooms you got 86fps then in another you got 67, and all these rooms are emty. So with players and buildings, fps will drop alot lower.

    But all the "255 255 255"-lighting makes it look a bit gray and boring. Maybe give the lights a little blue or yellow tone.
