    Why not use Microsoft Frontpage?

    I used it on my website:

    <a href='http://www.cdhs.com/Training/HomeworkHelp.htm' target='_blank'>www.cdhs.com/Training/HomeworkHelp.htm</a>

    It would have a background... but my school doesn't allow it <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I think your site is the perfect reason as to why you shouldn't use Microsoft Frontpage.

    Caboose, there's no content, the images are...hmm... rushed and you use an iframe. I feel dirty now having viewed a page with an iframe's source. I must go cleanse myself.

    But seriously, i would go into more detail, but i've spent all day designing, so giving detailed critique isn't high on my list of priorities right now. Needless to say, it's a good base, but it needs a lot of work. And less iframes.

    That's not frontpage's fault, tis the school's fault (I'm only allowed to use a limited ammount of their bandwidth... and then there is the WebSense filter to contend with... yeah...)

    I hate iframes too, but, my boss is a moron, so...

    Yea, like I said, she will not allow PHP, and that is the easiest way I can make a semi/non dynamic page. And Frontpage SUX, don't try to pimp your own stuff in other peoples threads, esp. since it sucks. I could have made that page with notepad.

    She only gave me 2 hours to do it too...

    I honeltyy don't care about the site, don't give a rats rear end about the content, I just wanted to get crits for somthing that was extremly rushed. I guess. I can do so much more than that, but she gives me stupid deadlines and too much work for a little pay. (Anyone looking for a web designer?)

    She is an impatient idiot who lies telling me things about oh, I was just told about this site today, and I need it so a retarded baboon can use it without using anything dynamic. She was tripping over the JAVA too...

    WURZT IDEA EVAR.

    Also the site (cabooses) is pretty good for something that only took 2 hours. Does that include everything? or just the actual making of the site itself. No php? what kind of moron wants a dynamic site that *doesn't* use php? What was her reason for not allowing php (it better be a good one)?

    (ps: we should start our own web design company, i can be the boss who tells you too make crap stuff, woot)

    She wants to edit the pages, by hand, and via ftp, upload them to her crappy server each and every time she posts news.

    A portal system would be too complex for her... (Does that make ANY sence?)

    Align it to middle, in the start of body type:

    <p align="center">

    and then put

    </p> at end of body, if you dont know how to.

    I bet you feel special because of your 1337 html skilzorz, I had never heard of the center tag before in my life!

    Um, I'm not dumb, did you read anything? BTW, I used layers, can't align it to center.
  • DunsbyDunsby Join Date: 2002-08-01 Member: 1042Awaiting Authorization
    Aligning is like one of the only things i know how to do, i havent got to clue what you do with layers..
  • SpacerSpacer Invented dogs Join Date: 2003-05-02 Member: 16008Members
    you can't, you can only position it so many pixels to the right and downwards from the top-right of the page. Can't be automatically centred :<

    Thats what I see, I tried the url in the frames page source result is the same still the same... Note sure what <a href='http://www.racersonlinecentral.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.racersonlinecentral.com/</a> is <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> since it only gives a white page with the text "libra" on it... So I can't comment on the site but maybe more people have the same problem as me...

    Sure you can. Now, it was a long time ago since I used CSS so this is probably incorrect, but I believe it was something like this:

    .mylayer { align: center; }

    Something like that anyway - I do know you can align it with CSS however.

    I've never had a problem with frontpage...

    You sure you dont' mean Frontpage Light or Express? (I managed to "borrow without intent of returnign" my school's copy XD)

    I think they're referring to the fact that elitist web designers tend to shun Frontpage as a general rule.

    The reason I hate Frontpage and similar software is the way they generate totally useless code and usually don't have any organisation of code (everything is in a one row for example) so it makes hand editing them a nightmare.
    Also if you use any sitedesign software, you do not learn how things work and keep making same mistakes. Also you end up using totally useless features that do not work on all browsers (who needs layers when you have tables and a bit of creativity <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    EDIT: Oh, and I use ConText for coding/making homepages. It's very easy to customize for your needs and isn't too complex.
