Roguelike Cheating

anywhere a how to or programs?
getting very tired of losing in roguelike games (damn developer AKA "wizard" mode not activated! ARGH!) because they delete the character file once it dies... so i was wondering, is there any program that i could use to alter the save files or back them up with a program that DOESN'T bug the level data?
And on the prospect of cheating, what sort of crazy thing have you discovered in games?
I figured out that if you're running from a enemy in a roguelike that can open/close doors, all you need to do is to find a door, and then close it right in the dude's face. however, for this to work you MUST be 1 tile away from from them. They spend their entire turn opening the door, at which point you spend your turn closing the door, and it goes back and forth for as long as you desire or a new enemy dictates. [all the while you regain health and mana while waiting for that teleport scroll to kick in ]

You die a lot in Ut2k4, but I mean if I lose a member of my team or if I fugger up considerably or if I delete for some reason. I have a backup.

A Screenshot
This picture has several (Green) Dragons and (Brown) Dragons along with a magical tome "+" and a potion "!"
"The Swamp" is a dungeon branch from another branch called "The lair". The Lair is attached to the main dungeon, and many edible enemies are within. The swamp is nastier though, with lots of water and poisonous enemies; As you can see, the player is Poisoned. The gray blocks are stone walls, and the brown block is a dirt wall. Only dirt walls can be dug through. The brown everywhere else is the floor of the swamp (imagine it's mud. ) and the cyan-colored , (i guess that's what they are) are various dungeon plants (fungi, weeds, roots, etc)
And yes, the picture is from the game link i listed. Considering Dungeon Crawl is the "fairest" RL game (by "fair" it means you screwed up because you didn't do something correctly to live) but it's still hard enough to make people want to know how to edit the save files (IE: ME )
[and yes, for what they lack for in graphics, they make up for in a immense amout of gameplay]
Don't cheat. It buggers up your high scores
