nice

very infested looking but it's a little small... dunno, maybe I didn't recognize if you took pics of different areas

edit: ok it doesn't look so small

to make it better, you have to add more infestation brushes all over the place. for example the ceiling and floor textures are very repetive, so to break that up stick a mound of infestation (a cool idea would to make a "sinkhole" in the floor and have a small pool of water at the bottom... it could also prove strategically useful

i like the intention, but the place seems dead to me. i mean, you still got 300 r_speed to waste so put computers, wires, pipes, PS effects and strange light_spots to make the place look....alive.

EDIT: Oh, the room also looks...well, i really dont understan its porpouse, give it one ;P

You've made a good start with the infestation, but I can still see lots of rightangles in the corners and the edges of the ceiling where gunk is likely to gather. I have noticed that some of the offical maps have turned their gunk piles into func_walls to keep r_speeds down.

I recommend you try some variations on the lighting. Spotlit hive rooms with patchy lighting are most effective, your single bright lightsource is sucking the atmosphere out of the room.

A great start, you could totally re-make the floor. The texture makes the room like un atmospheric. Maybe with a couple of floor textures/brushes you might not have to add as many computers or infestation areas as suggested. Pretty nice, bit small though.

I tend to disagree with the general concensus... I think hives, as a general rule, aren't being infested enough...I think we need to see some hives that are textured more like this... not to say that there can't be any other way - but I think the whole idea of a growing organism isn't really achieved when the infestation is as sparse as some maps tend to portrey...

    nice work Angel Kill

i really like the room. i would add, as Blue says, some more pipes/wires/steam effects/drips also a little pool would be great for strategical use. make lightning a bit more coloured, some red/blue light spots behind/on the pipes

the room seems a bit small but can't talk much about this

I'm gonna have to agree with ChromeAngel here -- your brushwork and texturing are nice (although it's a bit cramped), but you really need to have better lighting. Hive rooms in NS generally are darker than the rest of the map, and colored lighting is pretty frequent (green's a reasonably popular color to choose). That kind of unearthly lighting, more than just about anything else, really lets the player know that there's something nearby that just isn't from this world.

About infestation -- yeah, realistically, you'd expect the hive to absolutely cover the surrounding area with infestation. But it just looks kinda boring to have the entire room using the full infestation texture. And by having small pieces of the "original level" poking through the infestation, you reinforce the idea your level was once a perfect human outpost, but has now been corrupted by the alien presence, which is cool. Angel Kill, I think your level of infestation is very good, maybe just add a bit to the floor.
