I watched a little of Hamburger Hill and what I saw was good, other than that the only two that come to mind are Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.

I've seen lots, but which are you aiming for? One of those tragic ones, or those action ones?

[edit] In any case, I haven't seen Green Dragon yet, but I hear it's good.

    tigerland.

it's about a US training camp. has colin farrel in a <b>good</b> role, for once. he can act if he tries.

very good movie, should be at blockbuster. that's where i found it.

    edit: <a href='http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0170691/' target='_blank'>IMDB for tigerland</a>

Apocalypse Then, Empty Metal Jacket, and Not So Much A Platoon Because Like 2 People Wandered Off A While Ago And They Ain't Coming Back are my 3 favorites. Bit fuzzy on the names though.

While not a Vietnam flick, my suggestion is still within the same genre - "Band of Brothers". It's a miniseries put out by HBO maybe two or three years ago, and is one of the best war movies/shows I've ever seen.

If you're into those kinds of movies, then it's really worth it to pay the US$90+ price tag. I bought it mainly as an impulse buy after hearing my friend rant on and on about how great it was (<i>and it turns out he never even saw it</i>), but it's one of the best DVD purchases I've made. I've really only watched it once, but the series was just so well done and so powerful that I can still remember a <i>lot</i> of the better scenes.

In fact, I've got Sunday off. I expect I'll be stretched out on the couch for the better part of ten hours that day. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah I heard Band o Brothers is great, but alas I have no HBO and am too cheap for the DVD box set.

I just watched We Were Soldiers, its a good flick. Kinda the Saving Private Ryan of Vietnam in that "war is horrible" sense.

Damn, one more DVD I gotta buy...

You should try renting the Band of Brother DVDs from Blockbuster. Get some friends, split the cost and dedicate a day or part of one to watching part of the series or all of it.

    Rambo?

One of them has to be set in Vietnam.

And the Normandy Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan is top notch war action at it's best.

The Band Of Brothers series was pretty long. Every episode was an 1+ hour, and there was quite a bit of them as well.

The Siege of Firebase Gloria. Best Vietnam War movie ever, and Lee Ermey is in it.
They used to show it all the time on TNT, but now you can only get it on VHS/DVD, but it's definately worth the price.
