<div class="IPBDescription">EVERY SUNDAY</div> This last 16 months you guys/gals have given us some great maps that we have had lots of fun on. You guys have also helped me alot with making our own maps. And I know alot of you have trouble getting servers to run your maps. Were going to return the favor.

We will turn over one of our servers to you guys for your maps every Sunday for a 24 hour period. I live in the USA, Central time. Ill set just your custom maps to run from 6 AM Sunday til 6 AM Monday, my time.

The rules:

#1 NO FUN MAPS

#2 Maps must be in working order and have all the needed files, including a .res file.

#3 If your map crashes the server it will be pulled from the cycle.

NOTE: Please DO NOT include the .bsp in the .res file. The client will have to download it twice.

Check your pings at Graveyard #2 in my sig. This will be the server we will use as it is our newest server.

Post a link to your map for this Sunday.

    No need for a .res file is there? I thought that the minimap worked as the HLTV overview, so a .res wasn't needed?

    you're thinking of the TGA, the res is a list of all fils needed for a map, which includes the sounds, sprites, readme, wads...etc..

    a lits of files to push to the clients, or look to see if the client has.

    Screw res files... set up the http push and it's several times faster than getting the file thru the server.

    And BTW when he said fun map, he does not mean entertaining map, he means a craptastic map that consists of box rooms that plays neither like a ns_ map or a co_ map but instead trys to come up with it's own style of gameplay that never works and is unbalanced.

    I would like to have a server with the current release of my map, just to get some feedback about what people are thinking after having played... screenshots are one thing, seeing them connected another <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    It is no "funmap", but classic ns. Only has two hives by now, 6 nozzles, but I guess for a little "classic" round it should be ok. resfile and needed files are included.

    IT really doesn't matter how crap or good a map is. If it obides by the simple principles that I've listed below, I'd say its not a funmap

    1) Flowing layout for ns_ . No gimmick, space station, space ship, mining facility etc themed

    2) Res towers, 8-12 in a map, all spread out as even as possible

    3) RAD run.

    Typically detail and textures wouldn't matter, but we all know they do anyway.

    I think the need for a .res file may have scared some of you away, so heres one you can download and use. <a href='http://www.deadclan.com/ns_yourmapname.res' target='_blank'>http://www.deadclan.com/ns_yourmapname.res</a>

    Use notepad or some other word editor to open it. Any files like .mdl, .wav, .tga, .spr, .mp3 or .wad has a line with YOUR in it where you replace YOUR with the files name. Remove any lines that you dont need and save it as your maps name .res.

    I hope we can get more maps for next Sunday. Also Im trying to use the sv_downloadurl server command so the client may download the maps faster. But you will still need a .res for all files excluding the .bsp.

    Here is a great program made by United Admins (Same people who make Cheating Death) that generates the .res file for you, it's pretty helpfull.
