AMD Athlon XP 2600+ ~2 ghz
GeForce FX 5800 Ultra
Soundblaster Live 5.1

This is a Steam bug. There are 2 known solutions:

1. Go to www.steampowered.com and keep bugging them until they release the fix.

2. Read the sticky.
